Daughter of the late Johannes Bontius and the late Lutske van Der Veen. Loving mother to Marcel Hoogstad and his wife Jennifer, and Carla and her partner Judain Delsa. Sister of Gerry and Mary Bontius, Ineke Groombridge, Betty and Harold DeHaan, Peter (deceased 2021) and Immy Bontius, Joe and Patricia Bontius, Trijtje Bontius (deceased 1948), Hans and Jantina Bontius, Tineke and Glen (deceased 2013) Ruppel, and Judi Bontius. Sadly missed her two grandsons, Garret and Owen, and her loving pet companion, Pepper.

The family will receive their friends at the Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen Street South (Hwy. 50), Bolton (905-857-2213) on Friday, November 22 from 10 o’clock until time of funeral service in the chapel at noon. Interment Morningside Cemetery, Palgrave.

Our mom had a very strong relationship with Christ and believed in spreading and sharing his good word through charity. In lieu of flowers, or simply if you would like to make a donation in memory of Margriet Hoogstad, please consider the charities she regularly supported: Doctors without Borders / MSF Canada, World Vision, Compassion Canada or Heart & Stroke Foundation.

My deepest condolences to Margriet’s family, including those at Albion Hills Bible Church. Seeing Margriet at church on Sundays was always a highlight of my week. She never failed to put a smile on my face and I loved hearing about Pepper and the things she had baked the previous week. Margriet will be sincerely missed and her memory will be a blessing.
