Dear Glen, Geoffrey, David and Michael,

I am so sorry for your loss. Lori was a wonderful person filled with good humour and a winning smile who could put all who met her at ease.

Lori was my lunchtime walking partner at Calderstone. Either she or I would remind the other to put aside whatever priorities seemed pressing, put on our running shoes and take a quick 20 minute walk around the neighbourhood whatever the weather might be. I valued Lori’s advice to me during those walks as well as the amusing family anecdotes she shared. She was proud to share your successes. I will miss her.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family,

Condolence from Nandita Dias on August 7th, 2010 3:41 pm

Dear Glen, Geoffrey, Michael and David,

You are in my thoughts and prayers. I have written a few words about how Lori touched my life. I hope my memories of Lori make you smile.

Lori was one of the nicest people I have ever met. We both had a common interest in music; the source of hers was her talented twins. She always took an interest in my singing career and encouraged me by inquiring about my performances. She also shared her sons’ demo with me and I was pleasantly surprised by the maturity in their sound.

Lori was the kind of person who wrote you a personalized Christmas/holiday card. I could tell she was a wonderful wife and mother from the way she spoke about house work and child rearing; she really cared about her family and the people around her.

Lori was a strong woman. She remained cheerful and vivacious in the face of the inevitable; I remember her visit to Calderstone; instead of being serious and somber like the rest of us, she was helping us to feel better, making jokes about her new, youthful hairstyle.

Lori was an awesome person and I truly missed, and will continue to miss, her presence at Calderstone. We have been lucky to have her in our lives.

Love,

Nandita

Dear Glen, Geoffrey, Michael, David and family

Please accept my most heartfelt sympathies for your loss. I was able to go and visit Lori, when she was at Brampton Hospital. It was such a wonderful visit, what an amazing person. I walked into the hospital feeling sad and walked out feeling, what a great honor it was for me to have known Lori. I will certainly miss you here on this earth, but the love and smiles you left us will never be forgotten.

Lori and I worked together at Darcel. She always had a wonderful smile and made everyone feel welcome.

Softly the leaves of memory fall
Gently we gather and treasure them all
Unseen, unheard she’s ever so near
Still loved, still missed and ever dear
Please God forgive a silent tear
A constant wish that she were still here
Others are taken, yes we know,
But she was ours and we miss her so
Within our hearts, her memory is kept
To love, to cherish, to never forget.

Good my friend ((((HUG))))

Condolence from Lesley Risinger on August 7th, 2010 8:47 pm

Dear Glen, Geoffrey, Michael and David,
When I remember Lori, the first words I think of are “sweet” and “gentle”. I loved the way her eyes crinkled when she laughed and her face was full of pride when she spoke about her boys and their accomplishments. No doubt, Glen, you will be sustained by the love you shared during your life together. Saying “good-bye” is difficult but only because she touched lives in such a lovely way. We can be very sure that there is now one more angel in heaven.
God bless you all,
Lesley

Condolence from Toyin Adekusibe on August 7th, 2010 10:01 pm

Dear Lori, it was such a moment of silence, a deep sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch, when I heard that you departed. We may not understand why you left this earth before we were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, I begin to remember not just that you died, but that you lived. And that your life gave people around you memories too beautiful to forget. It was such a wonderful time working with you at Calderstone.

Dear Glen, Geoffrey, Michael and David, may the comfort of God embrace you during this difficult time. Lori ‘s sense of humour, nicety, great team spirit, and selflessness will forever bring her memories anew.

Condolence from Isaak Dyck on August 8th, 2010 1:21 pm

Lori is definately someone that I strive to be like. Her kindness toward all of the staff and students at Calderstone often astounded me. In situations where students would test the patience of anyone, I remember Lori handling these situations with a calm voice and gentle manner that no one else could. Chatting with her about her family and the perils of flying lessons with Geoffey, along with band appearances by David and Michael and the latest project at home that Glen was working on was something that always made her light up. She will be missed and will live within our hearts until we meet again.

Thoughts and Love from the Dyck Family.

As you know, she put everyone before herself but most of all, she loved and cherished the four of you.

Lori is an example of an exceptional human being! Her smile, laughter, kind words and positive attitude will be with us forever.

Sincerely,

Aamer

Condolence from Jyoti Dhillon on August 9th, 2010 3:11 am

Lori’s family:

I am terribly sorry for your loss.

When I think of Lori, I always remember the first time I ever saw her at Calderstone Middle School; she was introduced to fellow staff as our “school’s mom”. How fitting a title for such a lovely person. She was a perfect person to greet staff and students as she exuded warmth and caring. Her smile and voice were truly our school’s gem. Lori’s motherly ways never seemed to fail, especially, when someone needed a listening ear. I remember how she provided me reassurance and a hug when I needed one.
When Lori spoke of her family she seemed to glow. She shared of their achievements and adventures they were pursuing with pride.

I will miss Lori and her mom-ness.

Jyoti

Condolence from John, Elaine and Thomas Stock on August 9th, 2010 1:31 pm

Dear Glen, Geoffrey, Michael and David,

We were so sorry to hear about Lori’s passing. Lori was a wonderful addition to the 892 Snowy Owl Sponsoring Committee and Squadron.

Lori’s heart and dedication went into all the events we were involved in, while never losing sight that it was all for the Cadets. Loris pride in her sons Cadet and outside activities was obvious and well warranted.

We remember Lori as a kind, gentle person that was always a pleasure to be around, and as a Mother and wife to an equally pleasant family.

Our thoughts and condolences are with you.

Sincerely,
John, Elaine and Thomas Stock

Condolence from Kicia Abdur-Rashid on August 9th, 2010 2:46 pm

Glen, Geoffry, Michael and David,

Please accept my deepest condolences for your loss. I knew Lori for five years and I can honestly say that during this time I have never seen her flustered or angry. She always wore a smile even when most of us would have been overwhelmed by the volume of middle school kids rushing in and out the office. On several occasions I commented to Lori that I admire her patience and respect for the students. She truly was one of a kind. I know I speak on behalf of everyone when I say that she will be dearly missed by the entire Calderstone family.

To the family left behind, take comfort in the fact that she loved you all. You were her pride and joy.

Sincerely,
Kicia

Condolence from Susan Barker on August 10th, 2010 2:51 am

Lori’s smile is what I was always greeted in when coming to work at Calderstone. She was so kind, warm hearted, sincere, and caring. I definately felt like I had a mother figure looking out for me at work, always wishing the very best for me , and even guiding me through the world of dating ;).

I always enjoyed sitting with her and listening to her share stories about her family, espeically her boys whom she was so very proud of. I will always remember the way she lit up talking about them.

I was unable to attend the celebration of Lori’s life, and am deeply sorry that I couldn’t make it. I made sure to take time to remember her and participate in my own way. Lori will be greatly missed by all.

Sincerely,
Susan

Condolence from Bunmi Omiyale on August 10th, 2010 8:01 pm

Finding words to describe Lori is a challenge. What can I say to portray her accurately?
Lori is an angel, a soft spoken lady always willing to listen and offer a word of comfort. She is an encourager, always smiling never angry. I remember the few times I was opportuned to sit with her at lunch time. Our discussion usually start with accolades for the boys in our lives, she has three and so do I; this is the most passionate and lively part of the chat. Thereafter, we talk about other trivial issues like entertainment, the history of Twins in Calabar, Nigeria etc.
Lori is positive about everything; she has a unique way of turning your tale of woes to story of hope.
I will keep Glen and the boys in my prayer. Adieu Lori.
Bunmi.
