Condolence from Carman Cantelon on August 24th, 2010 1:48 pm

With sadness, I read of Lloyd’s death in this morning’s Toronto Star. Could you please pass this message on to Ted and Willa? I have been trying to make contact with my nephew Sean Cantelon since his mother, Summer, passed away in 2002. A letter to my last address I had for him in Halifax came back. I tried the internet without success. Spotting him in an interview with Rick Mercer on The Mercer Report, I sought their help in making contact … without any success. I would really appreciate hearing from him. I am now 24 years into retirement from the education field and living in a retirement community on Belwood Lake near Fergus. My daughter Cathie, Sean’s cousin, lives in Hamilton. I’m soon to be a great-grandfather. I should very much like to hear from Sean. I can be reached at 55 Pine Ridge Road,
R. R. #1, Belwood, ON N0J 1B0 or at carmanc33@skytalker.ca. I shall appreciate any help you can give me in re-connecting with Sean. Carman

Condolence from Alicia King on August 24th, 2010 3:37 pm

Im so sad to hear about the passing of Grandpa. Even though I didn’t know him well, I know he was a great man and a great father to my Dad. I know he was an amazing role model for my father as my father is for me. I can only hope that one day when I have children I can pass on the same values, wisdom and love.

With condolences and love-
Alicia King- Granddaughter

Rob, Lynn and King Family
Please know my thoughts are with you at this sad time. There are never enough or the right magic words to ease the sorrow and grief for the death of a loved one. We try to take comfort in the fact that Lloyd is free of pain, but we still miss his presence in our lives. However, the memories will always be with you so hang on real tight and talk and share them whenever possible. Also my sympathy to Lisa and Justus because I know Lloyd was a very special person in their lives and want to extend my condolences to them. Thinking of you all. Marilyn

Condolence from Sean on August 26th, 2010 1:37 pm

Gladys and family,

My sincere condolences on the passing of Uncle Lloyd, I regret that I will not be able to attended the service due to distance. I have many memories flooding back from my youth of family visits and the warmth that I always felt in your house and cottage. Uncle Lloyd with cars and trucks are intertwined imagines in my head. As a young boy I remember an impressionable visit to the big garage filled with huge trucks that “Uncle Lloyd had.” What kid doesn’t love big machines and here was my uncle with lots of them. While hydro utility garages have not remained on my vising list, machines and ships certainly have remained in my life. Uncle Lloyds time in the RCN is a link I share and his passing in the year of the 100th anniversary of the Navy adds poignancy to the moment. In closing I will be thinking of all today on the day of his service and in my ears will echo the sailors hymn:

Eternal Father, strong to save,
Whose arm hath bound the restless wave,
Who bidd’st the mighty ocean deep
Its own appointed limits keep;
Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee,
For those in peril on the sea!

Sean

I just googled the name Summer Cantelon, who was a friend when we lived in Australia, and this was the first page that was listed. As she was a Canadian, am thinking that the woman by that name referred to here was our friend. Could you please confirm this for me? If so, would you be so kind as to tell me when and how she died. Our friend lived in Tamworth, NSW during a time-period that included 1974.
