Condolence from Jim and Nadia Hoganson on February 17th, 2016 11:14 pm

We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Lisa. She was a student of mine, along with her twin sister Laura at Notre Dame Secondary School. I always found it amusing teaching the two sisters together because for attendance purposes, I could never tell them apart. Lisa and I connected again as teachers for the Peel Board. Along with Pat Noble and Joanne Thornton, Lisa and I prepared the inaugural Peel Mock Trial Tournament. We continued to keep in touch over the years at various educational workshops. Lisa was a wonderful student, an excellent teacher and a warm, loving and sincere person who always made you feel at ease. She will certainly be missed by the many students that she taught over the years, colleagues that she worked with, and family and friends whose soul she touched. Our deepest condolences are extended to the Stalteri family at this most difficult time.

“I’m no longer by your side, but there’s no need to weep; I’ve left sweet recollections I’m hoping you will keep. And if times of loneliness bring sorrow and dismay, don’t despair, for I am there…” Just a Memory Away.

Condolence from Jo Thornton and George Adams on February 19th, 2016 4:05 pm

Our hearts are filled with profound sadness with the passing of Lisa, a radiant and beautiful soul. We first met Lisa decades ago when Lisa and her twin sister Laura were gifted students, part of the “Castlemore gang”, we had the joy and privilege of teaching during the early heady days at Notre Dame S.S. Later we would reconnect with Lisa through the Faculty when she became our student teacher. It was evident in those early years that Lisa was a natural born teacher, a compassionate human being and inspiring educator who would endear thousands of future students to excel, to be the best they could be, and to live life fully and joyfully. As a young law teacher, Lisa was eager to collaborate with her former Law teachers Jo Thornton and Jim Hoganson to launch the inaugural Peel Legal Education Mock Trial Competition. A decade later she continued to work diligently with Sean Coroza and members of the judiciary to inspire thousands of students to aspire a career in the justice sector. Her legacy will be remembered. To our beloved student, teacher, colleague, and gentle friend we will miss you dearly. You are far too precious to forget.

Condolence from Jenny Tang on February 20th, 2016 3:08 pm

I’ve been mulling over how I should go about this message, writing, deleting, rewriting. It’s hard to put exactly into words how her passing away has affected her students, and though I maybe doing an injustice to her as an educator by not looking over or editing this message, but hey, here are my unadulterated words about my former gr 11 law teacher.

“Snappy dresser.” The words I would use to describe my first impression of Ms. Stalteri, Let me tell you, boy did she style! Ms. Stalteri was always very nicely put together, and I always thought, “Dammmn, I hope I have her good fashion sense when I’m her age.”

It’s a shame that Castlebrooke has lost such an honestly amazing educator. I not only had the pleasure of having Ms. S as a teacher, but also a mentor in Mock trial. And although this may have not been mutual among the other students, I always thought that Ms. S was a very laid back and understanding teacher (the main credentials for teenagers when judging their teachers).

I’ll always remember her as the fun, adorable teacher who had a huge FANGIRL moment when she found out that my friend met and took a picture with Patrick J. Adams (from the awesome law tv series Suits). It was one of those humbling and truly cliché moments you have when you realize, wow, teachers are people with lives and interests too!

All that’s left to say is that I wish all the luck and happiness to my teacher’s family and children. To Ms. S, you will be missed.
