Passed away suddenly on Sunday, August 13th, 2017 Leslie (Les) Stanley Judge, at the age of seventy-nine. Survived by his beloved wife of 52 years Finola (nee Brett), daughter Nicole and her husband Tom Wilson of Caledon, Ontario, son Cliff and his wife Kary of Cambridge, Ontario; three grandchildren Chase, Kiernan, and Nolan; sister Enid and brother-in-law Ray of England, sister Barbara of England, brother-in-law Evan Brett and his wife Joan. Adored uncle of many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Predeceased by Barbara’s husband Bob, brother Norman and his wife Joyce also of England. Devoted son-in-law of the late Lena and Edward Brett. Sadly missed by his pets and grand pets.
A graduate of Shropshire Agriculture College, UK, Les made his way to Canada in 1959. First as a farm hand, before dedicating 33 years at Nortel. His love of rugby went almost as deep as his love for his family. Les was a founding member of the Brampton Rugby Club, and shared many stories, laughs, and games with members of the Niagara Club as well. Les enjoyed the game not only as a player, but referee. Heading overseas to England, Ireland, Argentina, Chile, and Prague to ref and play in the Golden Oldies World Cup. In his retirement you could be sure to find Les at Nicole and Tom’s Spirit Tree Estate Cidery in Caledon. Always ready to lend a hand, tell you a story, and send you off smiling. Les’ spirit will surely be felt for years to come.
A memorial service will be held at Mayfield United Church, 12496 Dixie Road, Caledon on Thursday, August 17th at one o’clock.
A Celebration of Life will follow at Spirit Tree Estate Cidery, 1137 Boston Mills Road, from 3 – 7 o’clock. Please drop in to share memories and time of fellowship.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada and Caledon Community Services, 18 King Street East, Bolton L7E 1E8.

So sorry to hear about Les…he was truly wonderful and shared so much of himself with the Belfountain/Caledon community and the Spirit Tree community. I know he will be missed by so many; especially his smiling face and enthusiasm that he greeted all with. While it doesn’t help to fill your loss, he did love life and seemed to take advantage of all opportunities to have a life well lived.

Your dad was the smiling face who greeted us almost every time we entered your establishment – his generous nature and friendly manner will be missed by everyone – lucky you (family and friends) to have him as your great ‘Spirit” coach – hoping when you have had time to heal you will consider including his name on something – envisioning an orchard named The Leslie Trees – Hugs to you at this saddest of times and sending a donation in his name to SHARE.
Jack and I send our condolences to Nicole and family. I got to know Les volunteering with Canadian Blood Services. He was so proud of his generous donations, and rightly so. We will miss him.

I have spent many years with Les in and around the rugby pitch as a fellow referee.
He was a joy to be around and helpful to players, coaches and spectators regarding the application of law. This he did in his manner; with a smile and pleasant conversation.
We have the fond memories remaining and will reflect often, he was that kind of person.
I am deeply saddened to hear of Les’s passing. I will always remember him as a staunch and contributing member of the Niagara Rugby Referees Society – his easy going and pleasant manner allowed him to successfully facilitate all ranks of matches throughout the many years he refereed.
My sincere sympathy to Finola and family. I regret that I am unable to attend the celebration of Les’s life – having just been informed.
Rugby is often referred to as the game played in Heaven – Les, please continue to enjoy – God bless you.

My most heartfelt condolences. Les was a force who helped me to learn to share in his passion for rugby. Regardless of the game, weather or role, Les unconditionally offered his support, time, and most significantly, his friendship backed by that perpetual smile.
Where Les stood out, however, was our time together off the pitch. It was there that he showed and shared his real passions, his love of family, friends, and all that is good in life.
I truly regret missing the service and Celebration of Life as what better way to remember Les than meet family and share stories.
