Peacefully at her home, on Tuesday, December 6, 2016, Laura Emma Armstrong (nee Speirs), at the age of 89 years, beloved wife of the late Edward Armstrong. Loving mother of Ted and Lois, Tom and Donna, Tim and Rose. Cherished grandmother of Braden and Deanna. Dear sister of Mary and the late Bob Grant, Ruth and Russel Graham (both deceased), Gwen and David Armstrong (both deceased), John and Helen Speirs (both deceased), Hazel (deceased) and Bertram Stewart, Ken and Lonna Speirs.
The family will receive their friends at the Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen Street S. (Hwy. 50), Bolton (905-857-2213) Thursday afternoon 2 – 4 and evening 7 – 9 o’clock. Funeral service will be held in Mayfield United Church, 12496 Dixie Road, Caledon on Friday morning, December 9 at 11 o’clock. Followed by cremation. If desired, memorial donations may be made to Mayfield United Church, 12496 Dixie Road, Caledon L7C 2L7. Condolences for the family may be offered at www.EganFuneralHome.com

Laura was a wonderful friend! I will miss our visits of tea in china cups, homemade cookies and chatting about the past, present and future Mayfield community.

Laura and Ed often welcomed a hungry minister into their home at lunch time. Wonderful memories of her firm, practical and kind way. She baked great cookies and offered wonderful advice when our first child was born. Bob joins me in offering our sympathy to the family. Rev Sandra Abuja

We are so sorry to hear about the passing of Laura. We have enjoyed Laura’s company for many years and I looked forward to seeing her at the hairdressers on Fridays and catching up on the Mayfield News. We will miss her pleasant manner and friendliness. We are sorry we could not get to the funeral parlour’s but as you Mom new I was getting my hip replaced last Tuesday so unfortunately we could not get to the funeral home Bruce and Donn Wanless
