My condolences goes out to the Traverso family through this very difficult time. I didn’t really talk to Katie in highschool but she was a sweet girl. Condolence from Kathryn McLellan on February 8th, 2012 12:21 pm

My condolences to the Traverso family during this tragedy. Katie was a best friend of mine, she meant the world to me, we shared so many many memorable moments. She came into my life during a bad time and made everything better. You were such a large part of my life, I’d do anything for you. She loved her family more than anything in the world. She was always happiest around them. Katie was far beyond words to describe. I promise to live everyday for both of us. You will always be apart of me. You were the greatest of best friends anyone could ever dream of and I miss her every second of every moment. Katelyn would want you to smile and embrace the beauty of life as she did. She is our guardian angel and her spirit will always be present. I will always be here for your family. My love goes out to all.
xoxoxo Love always, Kat

Condolence from Katlyne Drury on February 8th, 2012 12:28 pm

My beautiful girl, Miss Katie Traverso. I honestly do not know where to begin. I have known you for a long time now. You have done nothing but give me hope for what I plan on doing in the future. Every time I was with you there was nothing but smiles, laughter and just pure craziness!! but that is what everybody loved about you. We now have lost one of the greatest and most perfect ladies out there but Heaven has definitely gained another angel. My condolences go out to the Traverso family through this rough time. I never really got to meet any of you guys but there wasn’t a time when Katie did not speak of any of you. All of you were constantly on her mind and she made that very clear. Also Jamie Bates and Paula Petruccelli, we are all here for you guys and love the both of you. I know this is not easy but she will always and forever be with us and watching over us.

R.I.P My Beautiful Girl
You will never ever be forgotten

Condolence from Garfield Allen on February 8th, 2012 2:33 pm

Rob, Sharon and Family,

I have very fond memories of your much younger family dining together at Charley Fitzwhiskey’s when Rob and I worked together.

The thing that resonates with me the most was the closeness and obvious love being shared amonst the Traverso family.

Nothing I can say will ease your pain in this time of grief, but I do believe that those tight family ties will help to see you through.

The world is full of suffering.
It is also full of overcoming.

I hope that in this time of pain you can find a bit of happiness knowing what a great person she has become. I am deeply sorry I can not make it to the service as I am out of Province Friday-Monday but I will be thinking of all of you often.

All my Love,

We are shocked and saddened by the loss of such a wonderful girl. We have known Katie since she was a little girl. She was always eager to be a star! She was sweet, responsible and adored her family and friends. She was raised with love and support and she in turn gave her love and support to her friends and family. She will be the sweetest angel in Heaven. Lord, please take care of her and tell her that we will think of her often and will never forget her joyous, sweet personality! Katie you always were a STAR!

Condolence from Juan Useche on February 8th, 2012 10:21 pm

I met Katie when I first came to Canada, even though I struggled with the language, she was one of the first persons I spoke to at school. She was always nice, kind and polite to people and would always greet everyone with a smile on her face. It saddens me that we didn’t stay in contact, but as time went by, I noticed that she had so many friends and was loved by so many people, which didn’t surprise me, because I had seen through my own eyes how good of a person she was. My condolences go to the Traverso family, Katelyn was one of the nicest persons I have met throughout my life, and I think everyone who met her would tell you the same.

I will keep her in my prayers.

Rest in Peace Katie.

My condolences to the family and friends. I had not known her for long but she was a huge impact in my life, more than anyone can understand. That was her gift – to make a mark on peoples’ lives. An Angel lost on earth is an Angel gained in the Heavens. She was a light in the world to let us know that life is more than what it seems. I thank God she was in my life even for a little bit of time.

You will be missed Katie, you will be missed. Much love.

My deepest condolences to the Traverso family. It’s always devastating to lose a family member, especially one as wonderful and loving as Katie. I first met Katie in grade nine.. She was always nice to me and every time I saw her in the hallway she had a smile on her face. She is one of the most beautiful people I have ever met, inside and out. R.I.P Katie, the most beautiful angel in heaven.

Condolence from Ward (Dan) Graham on February 10th, 2012 8:31 am

I’ve known Katie since 2007 and I met her through my mate Jeremy. Later we became friends when she was with Jamie. I grew to love her like a sister, and since she’s been gone there is nothing that can fill the void she left. When I had doubts about coming to Australia for a year, she encouraged me and helped me make the decision to come. It saddens me the last time i saw her was for my 20th birthday in September but i know she would want me to push on through these trials and tribulations and learn from it. Katie was truly an inspiration to me and she will live on in my heart and memories. Deepest sympathy and condolences to the Traverso family, I know from how much she loved you this must be devastating. Also my deepest apologies for not being able to make it from Australia. My mother will come in my place because she knew Katie just as well from me, my friends and her co-workers. I hope the flowers i sent will make it in time. Here is a poem i found that helped me and i hope it will help who ever reads it.
“Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am in a thousand winds that blow,
I am the softly falling snow.
I am the gentle showers of rain,
I am the fields of ripening grain.
I am in the morning hush,
I am in the graceful rush
Of beautiful birds in circling flight,
I am the starshine of the night.
I am in the flowers that bloom,
I am in a quiet room.
I am in the birds that sing,
I am in each lovely thing.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there. I do not die.”

Much Love and sincerest apologies,
Ward Daniel Graham

Condolence from Sarah Fuller on February 10th, 2012 8:41 pm

I had the pleasure of meeting Katie first in grade 9, where we took the same bus to school. She always was so excited to ask how everyone elses day went, and all the new gossip we had heard. When she moved to Oakville, we had lost touch but recently reconnected when she moved back to Orangeville. I remember the first time seeing her after all those years at Prom and she just came up and gave me the biggest hug and said how much she missed me and wondering what was new in my life. It was like she had never moved away. She told me all her aspirations of becoming a model, and I was so happy for her. She came into my work Bonnie Togs a few months ago, and gave me the biggest hug. I wish I had known that would be the last hug from such a beautiful girl. My fondest memory I have of her, is when we were all at a friends house this past year, and she was just so wild and crazy, she put on ski goggles and put a timbit half in her mouth and started posing for pictures <3 it was the cutest thing ever. The last time we talked was a few weeks ago when she was wondering who my eye doctor was because she wanted to get Lasik eye surgery..I wish I could have just talked to her one more time but I know she is happy up there. She would want us all to be happy and celebrate the good times in her life. Katie will be an inspiration for myself and others to live your life to the fullest, and to dream big.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Traverso family and everyone else who was touched by Katie.

Although it has been some years since we last saw her, and our kids played together; the memory of her beautiful smile, and caring nature, are still fresh in our minds and hearts. She was a delight to know. I pray God willl comfort and help you in the present, and in the weeks and months to come.

You are in our prayers.

Your former neighbours,
Clive, Claudia, Lauren, Leona & Michael.

Our condolences to your family through this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. I remember Katie at the dance studio when Jade and Natasha danced together. She was a real little cutie then and such a beautiful young woman now. Travis and Katie spent many years as schoolmates and he said she was a terrific person. She has touched the hearts of many and will be sorely missed…but forever loved.

To the Traverso Family

I would like to say I am so sorry for your lost. Katie and I were in the same Geography class in grade 11 at westside. I knew her for a while but by the end we were friends. she was friends with everyone. I ran into her some time last year and we exchanged numbers. and now she is gone and I feel so bad about it. I miss Katie all day everyday but I know if I keep her in my heart she is always around.

Although I did not know Katie personally, my daughter Katie Zemeckas spoke very highly of her. I believe that they knew each other from Thomas A. Blakelock High School and through Jack Boland at the Toronto Sun. My Katie had a Toronto Sun photo shoot right after your daughter this summer. They hadn’t seen each other in a long time and “caught up” in the lobby of the Sun building. I know that they often chatted on Facebook.
On behalf of Katie and myself, I want to express our deepest sympathies. God Bless the Traverso family.

My sympathy and prayers go out to the family of Katie. I did not personally know her, but can see from the video and hearing people speak of her that she was a very energetic, beautiful young woman with a loving, caring family.

I too have lost a child, so although I don’t know how you feel, as every family dynamic is unique, I do understand the pain and anguish you are experiencing now.

I pray, for you, that in the future you will find some comfort in the wonderful memories you have of your Beautiful Daughter.

In deepest thoughts and prayers,
Beverley

I didn’t know Katie, while at the CNE grounds I saw her memorial and from that I have looked her up online. I have read some of the remembrances above, so many speak of how huge her spirit, her zest for life was. What was it that compelled me to follow up after seeing her memorial? She sounds like a lovely girl, perhaps heaven just isn’t big enough to hold all that amazing spirit, perhaps that’s what urged me to follow up. Tuesday will be her birthday, Tuesday is also my birthday. I just thought you might like to know that Katie touches people even still.
