Joan

Passed away peacefully at Matthews House Hospice, Alliston, on Friday April 18, 2014. Beloved wife of the late Clifford Michael Graham, as they resided in Caledon for many years. May she rest in peace after a long battle with fibromyalgia and cancer. She was a business accountant with “Clarkson and Gordon” and later was instrumental in running the “Materials Handling Institute”. She was very active in the Caledon Community promoting CACY (Caledon Arts and Crafts for Youth) and was awarded “Volunteer of the Year” in 1993, recognizing 20 years of service. Joan and Cliff were avid sailors and were members of the National Yacht Club. Joan was a nature lover and loved Caledon for its natural environment, birds and wildlife. She will be missed for her humour and wit, her opinions and her heart of gold.

Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Egan Funeral Home, Bolton (905-857-2213). If desired, memorial donations may be made to Matthews House Hospice, P.O. Box 10060, Alliston, Ontario L9R 0B7. Condolences may be offered at www.EganFuneralHome.com

I am very sorry to hear of Joan’s passing. Joan and Cliff were very special to me, giving me my first job at MHI right after graduating University. She certainly had alot of spunk and always made an effort to stay in touch with me over the last 16 years. She certainly will be missed.

Joan was one-of-a-kind – always full of ideas and always opinionated.
She had a zest for life and a love of nature. Computers would frustrate her and she preferred direct contact with people. She was always very kind to us and we enjoyed her company.

I was surprised to hear. I last spoke to her in March when she was at home. A unique, head strong person, always debating her point of view. She was not the usual boisterous Joan I had come to know.
Will miss her in my way as a long time acquaintance and friend.
I’ll have a Heineken in her memory.

Condolence from Sandy Wilson on June 24th, 2014 6:54 pm

So sorry to learn of Joan’s passing.
The two of us had many an adventure over the course of our friendship, some 29 years.
Rest in peace and pain free comfort Joan.
A Heineken in a tall glass in your honour.
