October 23, 1967 to May 25, 2025

Jayne Anne Stoddart (nee Kooistra) passed away peacefully at Sakura House Hospice in Woodstock, Ontario after a short but courageous battle with cancer.  Loving wife of 35 years to Scott Stoddart, cherished mother to Joshua (Jennifer) Stoddart of Palmerston and Jeffrey (Jessica) Stoddart of Woodstock.  Devoted and doting grandmother to Ashton, Ainslie, Jillian, Jaxxon and Francis (Frankie).  Dear daughter of Peter Kooistra and beloved sister of John (Sabrina) Kooistra and Julie Kooistra.  Loving daughter-in-law to Wayne and Terry Stoddart, sister-in-law to Jeff (Bobbie) Stoddart and Shelby (Kirk) Denti.  Dear aunt to Mickaela and Bonnie Baechler, Brooklyn Stoddart, Brody Denti, Aleigh Denti, Mara Cobb, Sophia Morales, Sawyer Denti, Tanner Denti and Kobe Bohn.  Devoted special friend to Christine Fogden.  Predeceased by mother Bonnie Kooistra, brother Jeff Kooistra and sister-in-law Sherka Dougherty.

Jayne was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and lived in BC as well before coming to Ontario…eventually settling with her family in Bolton when high school began.  She and Joshua met Scott and they became a family in 1989, with Jeffrey arriving a year later.  Jayne had a successful career in IS working for Confederation Life, IBM and Manulife Financial.  Work afforded a chance to relocate from Bolton to Waterloo in 1996, where the boys grew up and formed a circle of friends who eventually became part of the family…Jayne was their second Mom and everyone was always welcome.  Jayne loved the holidays…especially Halloween and Christmas.  She always looked forward to spending time with friends and family and her loot bags became a legendary part of every event she hosted

Jayne’s true calling though, was being a grandmother…it started the second Ashton and Ainslie walked through her door and continued as Jillian, Jaxxon and Frankie arrived.  She loved each one of them dearly…always making sure that they were taken care of and had everything they needed.  Sleepovers at Grandma and Grandpa’s were always looked forward to, in addition to many memorable trips and family events.  When she became ill, it was always the grandchildren who put a smile on her face and made her want to fight on.

Many thanks to Dr. Andrea Molckovsky, the wonderful nurses and staff at the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre who worked hard to treat Jayne even though the odds were against her.  Thanks to Dr. Dried Jamal and the amazing nurses from South West Ontario Health at Home for taking care of Jayne and allowing her to stay comfortable at home as long as she could.  Finally, thanks to the incredible staff at Sakura House Hospice in Woodstock…although Jayne was only there for a couple of days, they welcomed our family and made her as comfortable as possible during her final hours, always treating her with kindness, respect and dignity.

Jayne touched many lives with her strength, honesty and fierce devotion to her family and friends.  She will be truly missed.  Thanks to everyone who came to see her or sent messages of support and encouragement to brighten her days and keep a smile on her face as she fought this battle.  She will live on in all of our hearts.

The family will receive their friends at the Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen Street S. (Hwy 50), Bolton (905-857-2213) on Friday, June 6 from 1 o’clock until time of memorial service in the chapel at 2 o’clock.  Followed by a reception at the funeral home.

If desired, memorial donations may be made to VON – Sakura House, 715180 Oxford Road 4, Woodstock N4S 7V9 or Grand River Hospital Foundation,  835 King Street W., Kitchener N2G 1G3.

Condolence from Briar on May 31st, 2025 6:41 pm

I was so sorry to hear of Jayne’s passing. I’m sending heartfelt compassion to Mr. Kooistra, Scott, the boys, the babies, John, Sabrina, and Julie. You’ve all endured so much loss—it’s truly heartbreaking.

My condolences also extend to Christine and to the many good friends Jayne held close. She was widely known, deeply sensitive, and had a sense of humor that left a mark.

Jayne now joins the prayer book of those taken far too soon—alongside her brother Jeff and their mother, Bonnie.

There’s nothing adequate to say in moments like this. All any of us can do is hope, and pray, that we’ll be reunited with those we’ve loved. I believe, truly, that we will.

And when that day comes—maybe all the Boltonians will be there. Waiting. We’ll have a field party in heaven.

Condolence from Gaynor Haynes on June 2nd, 2025 10:12 am

Jayne and I worked for many years as teammates. Her passing is heart wrenching. I will miss the side conversations she and I had. I can still hear her laughter and her funny/ witty comments. It is very difficult for me to accept that she is no longer with us. I really believed that she was not going to succumb to that…. I believed that she would marshal her way back to health.

Jayne’s family members – please accept my deepest condolences. I know she will be missed by you. Also, her teammates will miss her dearly. Whatever small consolation I can bring to you during the time of grieving is to mention that “Jayne has left us a wonderful legacy of her life”.

Condolence from Vivian Wong on June 2nd, 2025 10:40 am

Condolence from Justin Amaral on June 2nd, 2025 10:44 am

To the Stoddarts: I am so sorry for your loss.

Jayne was my second mother. I will always remember the first time I had gone over to the Stoddartses and her response to Jeff was, “who is this?” / “do his parents know he is here?”. Jeff had clearly asked if I could come over.

Jayne’s sense of humour will be what always sticks with me. Whether it was the time she rented a hot tub she kept in the garage, the Cougars and the Pumars, or the half dozen times she tried dancing with me in the Stoddartses kitchen.

Jayne was endlessly generous. Were it not for her patience for me making her late for work for the 4 years she gave Jeff and I a lift to high school, I would no doubt be homeless right now.

Rest easy. Till I, and my army of cats, see you, and your army of pugs, in Valhalla.

Condolence from Vivian Wong on June 2nd, 2025 10:54 am

Condolence from Jennifer Wunder on June 4th, 2025 10:59 am

I met Jayne probably around 1999 at Manulife on the Ground Floor where the Data Center used to be. Over the years our paths crossed as we did multiple roles most notably doing on call and support type work. As time went on we would run into each other frequently in the halls where she always reminded me that we were now the age of the guys who we thought were so ‘old’ back in the day 😛 I will miss running into Jayne in the halls of Manulife where we spent so much time. She was one of the good ones and will be greatly missed. My condolences to Jayne’s family, may she rest in peace.
