The untimely death of James Edward (Ed) Plewes, loving husband of Susan (Shaw) (Smythe) Plewes, occurred on Thursday, November 18, 2004 at the Southlake Regional Health Centre, Newmarket, Ontario. Born in 1937 in Toronto (Longbranch), he was the son of the late Howard John Plewes, Toronto, and the late Jeanette Marie (Reynolds) Plewes of Cambellford, Ontario. Besides his loving wife Susan, he is survived by his two sons Michael John Plewes and Bradley James Plewes and their mother Dorothy (Walsh) (Plewes) Legros, step daughters Deborah Anne and Heather Claire Smythe, brothers William Wallace (Jean Holiday), Ross Norman (Marlene O’Connor), and sister Carol Ann Byrnes (James). Edward is predeceased by his sisters; Elva Florence Tozer (Donald), Rita May Jennings (Stanley), brothers; Howard John Jr. (Grace Doyle) and Robert Mortimer ᅠ(Delores Bulman), stepson David G.M. Smythe, nieces Shirley Anne Leffering, Linda Bassett, Deborah Lynn Plewes. Ed was very special to many nieces, nephews and friends.

Ed’s working life began in the food industry followed by 33 years with health care product suppliers, 23 years with Calgon Canada Corporation, a subsidiary of Merck. During his career, Ed received many awards for excellence in sales and was recognized as a mentor, educator and friend by all in the industry. For 17 years, Ed refereed minor hockey in southern Ontario and was a lifetime loyal Montreal Canadians fan. An avid golfer for many years, Ed was Club Captain of Glen Eagle Golf Club, Bolton. For the past 12 years, Ed and Susan enjoyed boating with family and friends on their ‘home away from home’, the ‘Unwinder’ on Lake Simcoe.

Resting at Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen Street S., (Hwy. 50) Bolton (905-857-2213) with visitation on Saturday, November 20 from 2pm to 8pm and Sunday, November 21 from 2pm to 8pm. The funeral service will be held at Trinity Anglican Church, 79 Victoria St., Aurora, Ontario www.trinityaurora.ca (905-727-6101) on Monday, November 22 at one o’clock. Reception to follow at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 385, Industrial Parkway, Aurora. Interment will take place in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens, Moncton, New Brunswick in the spring of 2005.
