In Loving Memory of Ivan

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ivan, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Ivan left this world on Friday, October 6th, 2023 leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and a unique sense of humor. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Ivan was born on October 17, 1932 to Ivan and Zlata in Parndorf, Austria. From a young age, he exhibited a remarkable blend of kindness, fairness, sarcasm, and generosity that would shape his character throughout his life. These qualities endeared him to those around him and earned him the respect and admiration of his family and friends.

In 1955, Ivan met the love of his life, Mary, and they embarked on a journey of love and commitment that lasted 65 years. Their union was blessed with three children: Julie (Morris), Mary, and Linda (Tom). Ivan was a dedicated and loving father, always providing guidance, support, and an endless supply of jokes to keep the family entertained. He took great pride in watching his children grow into remarkable individuals they became.

As a grandfather, Ivan’s heart overflowed with joy. He cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren: Arienne (Trystan), John Dean (Sabrina), Jason (Pam), Caterina (Matthew), Cody, Ryan, Andrew, and Lauren. He embraced his role as a source of wisdom, fun, and unconditional love in their lives. Ivan’s presence at family gatherings was always filled with laughter and happy memories that will be forever treasured.

In his later years, Ivan was blessed with the arrival of great-grandchildren: Mila, Anthony, Alicya, John Anthony, and Olivia. He delighted in seeing the continuation of the family lineage and showered them with affection. His wisdom and zest for life will continue to inspire and guide them as they grow.

Beyond his role as a family man, Ivan was a true friend to many. He had a knack for brightening up any room with his quick wit and sarcastic humor. His kindness and fairness were evident in his interactions with others, and his generosity knew no bounds. Ivan was always there to lend a helping hand or offer a listening ear, making a positive impact on countless lives.

As we bid farewell to Ivan, we find solace in the memories we shared, the laughter he brought, and the love he bestowed upon us. His spirit will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

The family will receive their friends at the Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen Street South (Hwy. 50), Bolton (905-857-2213) on Thursday afternoon 2-4 and evening 6-8 o’clock. Our deepest condolences for the loss of your Dida. My parents have such fond memories of spending time with Ivan and Mary. Ivan was a wonderful friend to my parents and they are deeply saddened by his passing. The story I often heard was that he came to the hospital to pick up my mom and infant me as my dad could not come because of work, his kindness was always remembered.
