Kenedi Web Picture

Peacefully at Riverwood Senior Living, Alliston on Thursday, January 13, 2022, Imre Kenedi, in his 89th year, beloved husband of Ilona.  Loving father of Imre and his wife Martha, Tony and his wife Tracy, Walter and his wife Olga.  Cherished grandfather of Sarah, Sissi, Michael, William and Christopher.  Dear brother of Paul and predeceased by Istvan.  Fondly remembered by his extended family.

Imre grew up in Hungary and enjoyed hunting and fishing in the outdoors of the Lake Balaton area.  He left Hungary to come to Canada in 1956 and graduated from University of Toronto with an Engineering degree in 1960.  He formed his own consulting company in the 1960’s and then co-founded Tresman Steel, a steel fabrication company, in the 1970’s.  Imre worked hard to make the company a success and earned great respect within the industry.  The family moved to a hobby farm in the 1980’s where he and the family could enjoy horses, gardening and the outdoors in general.  Despite a severe stroke in 1988, Imre fought hard to continue to work at Tresman, and in the garden, and continued to make new friends.  He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Cremation will take place and a service will take place at a later date.

Condolence from Frida and Sarah Kenedi on January 19th, 2022 1:46 pm

Apu and Abuelito

It has been almost a week since your departure and they have been asking me: what happened? How did it happen? And my answer is to remember instead how you lived… From the moment I met you, you embraced my family and me with joy and respect. I will never forget when Sarah was born, and you joyfully screamed in the hospital “The First Lady Kenedi!”, and your immense smile while carrying her in your arms. Now, we will treasure that photo forever, to remember those moments. Our gatherings where Anyu prepared delicious food and we could spend some time together; where we would have great talks about your hunts, trophies, Africa, etc…

Your determination, unstoppable fight, tenaciousness, respect, and love are some of your many qualities which my children, grandchildren and myself will never forget. That’s how we will honor you, a great man.

Forever in our hearts.
