I was devastated to learn of this tragedy. Even though Greg and I have not seen each other since 2007 (I went to Switzerland in 2008 and he to the Middle East in 2009), we spoke 2-3 times per year and he remained a good friend. We spoke of business, family, golf and, of course, skiing … and loose plans for getting together in the future.

Greg was full of energy, intellect and joy in everything he did. I have lost a good friend and cannot adequately express my grief and condolences for his family. May they find strength and ultimately some peace with their grief at this awful time.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time. A shocking loss. I worked for Greg at Ventures Resource’s Toronto office until he left for Lafarge. He was a terrific ‘boss’ and fully supportive as I pursued my BFA part time. A great guy.

Our condolences go to Greg’s family, his friends and his other work colleagues. We have all suffered a great loss. Greg was not only a fine leader but he was also a great person who always showed interest and compassion towards his friends and employees and true affection towards his family. I have worked with Greg for many years. My fondest memories come from our most recent association when we worked together in Dubai earlier this year. We were able to share our reminiscences of work and play and revel in the major new challenges faced in the Middle East. Greg you will be greatly missed by us all.

We were all terribly shocked with the news. Greg was such a strong force in life and everyone he met, even briefly was touched by him. He was a great influence in Lafarge no matter where he was, and as a Director of the RMCAO. The industry is certainly a better place because of him.

I also recall him being so excited to take Alex golfing with his mini-clubs. Greg would absolutely glow with pride when talking about you & the boys! He was so extremely proud of your family and the life you had built together!

May 2010 was the last time I saw Greg at his Grandmother Viola Sheardown’s funeral. Greg’s eulogy in memory of his grandmother was a touching, memorable and impressive talk that still lives in my memory of a wonderful, loving and caring grandson and a “gentle” man anyone would be proud to associate with.

When I reflect fondly on my years at Wharton – a time of intense, rich experience condensed into two years, you and Greg come prominently to my mind. We had a wonderful core group of married couples in Cohort D — you and Greg, the Stedmans, OBriens, and Chakrabartis, The Cohort D wives were saints to put up with all of us, especially after the Thursday pub nights. And you also had a Wharton Wildman hockey player on your hands!

Greg immensely impressed me with his transformation from first year to second year and his intense drive to get an opportunity in investment banking — a goal that he easily achieved. How did this Canadian mining engineer so quickly grasp and understand Wall St.? As you know, he was instrumental in helping several of us land our full-time jobs at Kidder Peabody and thus launching our careers. For this, I’m eternally grateful.

It breaks my heart to think of you and your kids right now. But there will be brighter days ahead for all of you.

Darren and I were sorry to hear about the death of Greg. We hung out with him in Ballantrae until he moved up North to Alaska. Darren has been reminding everyone from Ballantrae how they used to hang out together, ride dirt bikes together, and he was the first person to jump off Geoff Kirby’s house! I guess he was a little rebel even back then. All of the friends from Ballantrae are saddened by his passing. We all remember Greg as a very nice and fun loving guy. We hadn’t seen him in quite a long time, and we would have loved to see him when he was back in Ballantrae a few years ago.

Cindy and Boys, my heart goes out to you. Greg was my Canadian brother and room rate when I returned to UAF. We had many great times together in Alaska and traveling with the mining team and vacations. I would like to meet the boys at some point and to tell them what a great guy their dad was.

My condolences to Cindy and her children. I knew Greg when he was the VP and President at the Keele St. Office. He always had a smile on his face and made sure he knew everyone in the office. This is truly a tragedy to lose a great person so young. He has left a great impression on all of us. May god give your family strength and courage as you go through this difficult road ahead.

Please receive my heart-felt sympathy. I was lucky to work with Greg during my years at Lafarge, when he was assigned to mentor me, as part of a training programme. At the time I did not even realize how lucky I was to receive his guidance and his coaching. Greg was a brilliant individual, and so fun to be around. I can’t even begin to imagine the void he will leave. I am so very sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to you.

I heard about your dad and I am verry sorry to hear about your loss and wanted to offer my condolences to you, your mom and your brothers.

As a fellow Wharton “D”, I recall vividly Greg’s enthusiasm and can do attitude towards whatever he was doing, whether schoolwork, career pursuit and of course having a good time in Philly. May these fond thoughts of Greg from so many friends help you and your family through this difficult time.

I was deeply shocked and saddened to hear of Gregs tragic passing. I offer my heart felt condolences to you and pray to give you strength in these sad times.
Greg was a true inspiration, we worked together on the Kuwait lafarge Board and over time became friends out of work and shared a passion for golf often conducting our board meetings on the Golf course in Kuwait and Dubai.
I will miss him deeply and hope that you will take comfort in knowing he touched many people, was a positive light and a truly genuine person and someone I am proud to have called my friend.

Greg had such a unique spirit that radiates energy to any one who worked with him. He had the ability to inspire and get the best out of others. Greg had been an integral part of my career development in ECAN, he kept me focused and determined in my overseas assignment in Eastern Europe.
Greg will be always remembered as a great leader, fun friend and most of all an inspiring mentor. My heart goes out to his wife and three boys for their loss, may our Lord Jesus be with you all during your time of mourning.

friends Pat and Larry in Stouffville. Greg with his infectious smile was truly a loving husband, and a very proud father. For such a young man, he touched so many hearts.

I knew Greg and Keith in high school. It has been a long time but I remember all of them being up and positive and fun all the time. So sorry to hear about the loss.

The last and clearest memory I have of Greg was when my folks and I stayed with Greg and his family in Blaine last August. Greg took Ryan on a 10k run from their house around a water tower and back. It was hard to believe Ryan made it AND that he kept up with Greg the whole way. This was how Greg was with his kids – always challenging them and enjoying their progress. With Tyler, Greg shared a love of golf, and with Alex, Greg shared a love of Alex’s academic interests. Greg was supportive and complimentary of Cindy’s strengths and talents, and it showed. No one could have asked for a better father and husband. Greg will be sorely missed. But his wide smile, enthusiasm about life, his sense of humor, and his infectious laugh will never be forgotten. Thank you Greg for being with us for such a short time. You were a short bright light, but you were a bright light indeed.

I just heard the very sad news about Greg. I wanted to write you to share my sincere condolences for your deep loss. Greg and I were classmates at Wharton and I was fortunate to have had the opportunity of working alongside him and getting to know him during those very memorable years. From the first time I met him so many years ago, Greg was someone who always had a positive word for everyone. He was one of the kindest, most optimistic people I’ve had the privilege to know and he always brought a smile to my face whenever I saw him.
