January 28, 1959 – January 27, 2026
Grant Douglas Armstrong passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, just one day shy of his 67th birthday.
Grant was born in Scarborough, Ontario, and grew up in Stouffville, Cannington, and Port Perry. No matter where he lived, his roots and memories were always deeply tied to the communities that shaped him.
Grant was married to Louise Armstrong for 14 years and remained connected to his family throughout his life. He was a devoted father to his son, Brandon Armstrong (fiancée Ayisha Borrelli), and his daughter, Erin Armstrong (fiancée Taylor McComb). He was a proud Papa to his three beloved grandchildren: granddaughters Lauren and Remi, and grandson Emerson. Becoming “Papa” was one of the greatest joys of his life.
He is remembered by his siblings: Kim Armstrong, Karen Underhill, Nancy Rumford, Ron Armstrong, Sharon McGrath, Stacey Devlin, and Brad Rumford, along with extended family and many dear friends.
Grant dedicated over 30 years of hard work to SPM Tech, where he built lasting friendships and earned the respect of those around him. For 16 of those years, he had the special privilege of working alongside his son Brandon — something he was deeply proud of.
Grant will be remembered for his big personality. He was funny, stubborn, hard-headed in the most endearing way, enthusiastic, and always ready to tell a story — especially if you had the time to listen. He had a deep love for Formula 1 and NASCAR, rock music that could fill a room, woodworking with his children, cooking for the people he loved, and above all, his family.
His presence was larger than life, and the stories he told will live on in the memories of those who knew him.
Grant leaves behind a family who will carry his humor, his strength, and his passion forward.
He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
The family will receive their friends at Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen Street South (Hwy. 50), Bolton (905-857-2213) for a Memorial Reception on Saturday, February 28 from 12 – 3 o’clock, with words of remembrance beginning at 12:30pm.
