In Memorial

Gordon Hubert Brown, 78, succumbed to cancer on Tuesday, January 19, 2016, at his home, surrounded by his family. It was one race he could not win. Born in Toronto, Ontario on February 7, 1937 to Marcus and Marie Brown, he was the youngest of 3 siblings and is predeceased by his brothers Doug and Walter. Gordon lived most of his life in west end Toronto and his later years in Bolton, Ontario.

Adored and cherished husband of Jacqueline (Jackie), his wife of more than 56 years…Loving father of Dawn, Jamie (Tracy) and Scott (Margaret)…Proud Grandfather of Marios, Jacqueline and Jessie…Beloved Uncle of Karen, Debbie and David. Treasured by his cousins, extended family and friends who survive him.

While attending high school, Gord excelled in sports and helped put Parkdale C.I. on the map as an athletic powerhouse.

Goodbye, Gordon. Your laughter and love will be greatly missed by all whose lives you have touched and by all those who you have made smile.

Memorial Services will be announced at a future date. Heartfelt thanks go out to family and friends for supporting Gord through his final days.

If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Condolence from Jim and Heidi Sant on January 20th, 2016 7:21 pm

Our condolences to Jackie and family. We are going to miss Gord so much. He was such a great man and always kept us laughing with his jokes and sense of humour. He always had a smile in his face when he would tell us stories about his family and the places and things he has done. May all those memories help you through this difficult time.
Until we meet again Gord.

My sincerest condolences to Dawnie, Jackie and the entire family. I’ll never forget those times at the cottage – Gord always ready with a good joke or a story from one of his life adventures. I know you will all miss him very much.

Condolence from Derek McLean on January 23rd, 2016 9:56 am

We’re very sad for your loss, Jackie. Although he wasn’t an uncle by blood, I’ve called him ‘Uncle Gordie’ my entire life. He was my dad’s (Ron McLean’s) closest childhood friend and they stayed close throughout their lives. I’ll always remember Uncle Gordie’s Christmas day visits where he and my dad would exchange nostalgic and often funny gifts, have a drink and remember stories and people from their shared past. He’ll be deeply missed by anyone who was lucky enough to know him.

Condolence from George & Toula Papadeas on February 1st, 2016 7:37 pm

Scott and the entire family our deepest condolences on your loss, from the entire Papadeas family (Babalou’s). Gord always had a warm smile and a joke or two whenever he would visit us for his toasted western or to pick up food for the gang at Bristol. May his memory be eternal.
Rest in peace Gordo.
