Condolence from Cheryl Wetmore (Hopkins) on September 10th, 2012 9:36 am

As I reflect back, I would say that the best times of my childhood were spent with my extended Martyn family. I remember thinking that no other family could be having as much fun as we all were, whether it be at the cottage or spending Christmas together. I recall all the crazy antics at the cottage, and how when Uncle Glenn was up to mischief, he would laugh and his eyes would seem to twinkle and crinkle at the sides; a look we saw often! I remember the big fat cigars he smoked and how the smell would waft around the back of the cottage; to this day the smell of cigar smoke transports me back to those summer days. I relished the times when Uncle Glenn would tell stories of his experiences as a volunteer firefighter, I could never get enough; they were full of drama and excitement and always made me feel very proud. I will cherish all my wonderful memories of all the crazy fun we had.

Gary,Lynda ,Elaine ,Paul and families. Sorry that we could not be with you today. I share the same memories as my cousin Cheryl wrote. The fun times at Christmas at each others houses, the family get- togethers at Paudash Lake as well.I had forgotten about Uncle Glenn’s cigars..that explains why I still enjoy the smell of the smoke in the air from a good cigar My thuoghts and prayers are with you today, especially as I head off to work at the Long Term Care facility in Bancroft, to care for many elderly people like your dad. It is the most rewarding job that I have ever had.
