Ross and I are saddened about the passing of Gerry. We have many fond memories of him on the Liberal trail. We spent many hours knocking on doors. He will be missed as an active supporter to the Liberal party and community. May you remember the fond memories you had together as a family. God bless.

Rie, although I only got to know Gerry canvassing and at Liberal events, I considered Gerry a colleague and friend. My sympathy during this difficult time. We will all miss him.

We are shocked and saddened by the loss of Gerry. We want to express our condolences to all of you in this time of grief. Gerry was a great Liberal and a good friend and we are all diminished by his loss. Please find comfort in the knowledge that we are better for having known Gerry and for his efforts to give us a better world. Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you mourn but unfortunately we are unable to attend the funeral because we will be in France with Neil Orford on a battlefields tour.

Lieve Rie en Ariela,

Ik heb vandaag dinsdag 10 juli de rouwkaart van Gerard met de post in Nederland ontvangen. Beiden gecondoleerd met het verlies van echtgenoot en vader. Ik ben hier heel erg van geschrokken. En zeker daar ik het afgelopen jaar maar weinig van mij heb laten horen. Voor mij is Gerard zeer waardevol geweest als schoolvriend gedurende 55 jaar. Ik denk met heel veel plezier terug aan hem. Ik heb inmiddels ook Theo Mijnhardt en Anthony LePoole van het overlijden van Gerard op de hoogte gesteld. Ik wens jullie beiden veel sterkte in de aankomende tijd. Ariella, I only met your father briefly a long time ago, but the lasting impression of him was that he was a good Dad. Please accept my sympathy for you and your mother.

My heart is broken since I got the news of my old dear friend Gerry. I wish I got the chance to say goodbye to you. You were a man who didn’t bother anyone, someone who was loving kind sweet and always respectful. It breaks my heart to hear that you’re no longer here. I found out so late in time that you passed away. I used to love our conversations we had although they were always short you always made my day. Your big warm heart will never be forgotten and that’s a true fact!!

I’ll never forget the time that we first met. I was 9 years old and my dog dragged me into your backyard chasing your cats and the first thing you did was ask ARE YOU OKAY and helped me up. And from then on our friendship became one great one that’s for sure. I’ll always remember how amazing you were.
