Condolence from Susan Montgomery on July 18th, 2025 12:44 pm

The hardest part of growing older is dealing with the death of friends, colleagues and family.
Gary was a true gentleman, a dedicated professional and a fine example of a Customs officer who always acted with rationality and compassion. It was a pleasure to know and work with him so many years ago at Pearson.

Condolence from Anthony Chaston on July 18th, 2025 1:15 pm

I worked with Gary for many years at the CBSA. He had a unique way of quietly lighting up a room as he walked in. One of the nicest men I have ever had the pleasure to work with. I never heard him say a bad word about anyone – the worst he would do is stop talking, shrug his shoulders and smile ….. but you always knew what he meant. And he ALWAYS had a story for you !! That was Gary !

My sincere condolences to Margaret, his family and friends. May your sorrow be swiftly soothed by the countless memories, jokes and laughter you share with Gary, and he with you. He was truly one of the good ones !

“They are never really gone, just out of sight for a while”

Dear Marg & family, We are so sorry for your loss. Gary was such a wonderful, caring man. He was always there to help anyone who needed it & never without a smile. Soft spoken, with such a huge heart. I remember when i first ever spoke to him, he talked about meeting my dad just before he had passed. i think he had just started on the fire Dept. so it was quite the thing for him to have experienced just being new there.
He also helped sell avon for me to people at his work, without me even asking him to. It was work for him, & i so appreciated his kindness in doing that for me. Treasure all the beautiful memories he left behind & may he rest in peace.

Marg and family,
Our condolences for your loss. Gary was a good man with a kind heart and we are grateful to have shared some good times together as new neighbours here in Alliston (going on 8 years). Our back decks are where we gather with friends and when your neighbours are considered friends, you have the best of both worlds. Gary always had to have the glider chair because that was his favourite and if you or someone else was sitting in it when he arrived, well he would just smile and know you were playing with him to get a reaction lol. Marg we are here for you and always will be.
RIP Gary. All our love, Peter, Pauline and Incoronata Monastero

Condolence from Greg Snoddy on August 6th, 2025 9:52 pm

Please accept my condolences. I met and became a friend of Gary‘s while staying at Riverside Senior home. I was only there for a short while, but had the pleasure of being Gary‘s direct neighbour And friend across the hall.. We could usually find Gary out on a walk around the second floor or hanging out in the dining room where I would do my therapy at the table and Gary would sit with us to cheer me on. I loved to get him to smile and crack up. I always had this game that we played. I would say Gary I need you to smile cause if you don’t smile, I can’t smile and it worked every time then one day in the dining room we were looking out the window together at the trees by the river. I said I can’t believe it. I just saw a monkey! That got a laugh. Anytime I’ve seen him smile or laugh would make my day. He was just such a good kind hearted man. I was so very sorry to hear of his passing after I left Riverwood, I only wish I could’ve been there to Pay my respects in the end. Rest in peace, Gary. Your friend Greg.
