Eva

On Tuesday, November 13, 2012, Eva “Jo” Westbrook (nee Cairns) of Nobleton, passed away in her 97th year, devoted mother of Richard, Ted, Phillip, beloved wife of Olav Andersen and the late Mike Westbrook. Lovingly remembered by her sister Ieleen, daughter-in-law Bonnie, sister-in-law Muriel, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She hung on for us all to say our goodbyes, one on one. She cared about her friends and family and in her caring we felt her love, and so, in her 97th year, and on her own time and in a warm and peaceful way, she helped us all to let her go. Her cremains will be buried in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Bolton by her family and friends. Arrangements by Egan Funeral Home, Bolton (905-857-2213). What a beautiful picture of your mother. This is as I remember her. I will sadly miss her. We had such fun times together, square dancing, road trip out west, playing cards. She was a favorite, always gungho for what ever came along. She was like a second mother to us all. Please accept my condolences for your loss.

Condolence from John & Doris De Winter & family on November 17th, 2012 8:34 pm

Dear Olav – We remember our visits and coffee time in the days when we got our canary birds at your place. Eva always made us feel so welcome, right from day one, and as we talked, many relatives and friends came to light that we both knew.
You will miss her in your life, and we hope your friends and relatives will continue to keep in contact, as you face your own
disabilities, as always, without complaint.
Bless you in the hard days ahead. We will remember you in our thoughts and prayers.

Phillip, Ted and Richard – our thoughts are with you all at this difficult time. Personally, I have so many fond memories of your mother. As a youngster growing up in Nobleton, she was one of my favourites – she never failed to stop and have a chat or tease you about something, whenever she saw you. Our deepest sympathy.

Condolence from Muriel Cairns on November 22nd, 2012 3:22 am

Words are hard to come by to express my sorrow in the loss of my dear sister-in-law Jo. I knew her for 61 years when I first met her brother Ronnie, whom I married. Jo became a sister to me. We shared so many wonderful trips together,,twice to New Zealand, once to Scotland, numerous visits to Canada’s east coast and a cruise to islands in the Caribbean. You could not ask for a better travelling companion. We shared many family events and she had a favourite expression, with a shake of her finger, that said “YOU better believe it”. My sympathy to Olav, Phillip, Ted , Richard and Bonny. I will miss Jo so very much and “You better believe it !! ” I am glad to see her at peace now. hugs to all from Muriel (Aunt Meme)

Dear boys,
Your Mom was a lovely lady that was visited frequently when Mom and Dad (Walter and Viola) were alive and my kids were small. I often think of her and Olav when we drive down to Bolton past the house.
May all your memories of her be good ones.
Take care ,Liz

Olav, Phillip,Ted , Richard and families . Our thoughts and love are with you at this time. What wonderful memories we all have of our time with Aunt Jo. So many Thanksgiving and Christmas get togethers. Riding my pony down to your place. Lots of card nights of “Confusion” with big coffee pots and sandwichs at midnight and so much laughter and great times. We will miss her so much. It was always a special time to have Olav and Aunt Jo at our home. My kids have great feelings of love for her. She truly let her love shine through to each and everyone she met. She was a second mother to alot of us and I was truly blessed to grow up down the road from her. I can hear Dad now saying to her “Hey Jo, this is Moe , whaddya know”. May she rest in peace and know she was greatly loved. Love Linda, Don, Erin , Randy and Brittaney

Condolence from Larry & Vivian Westbrook on December 9th, 2012 10:32 pm

To Olav, Phillip, Ted , Richard and all family members.
When I first came to Toronto to attend university Jo and Olav welcomed me into their home and provided me with a home away from home. Vivian was made equally welcome when we wed in 1973. The many family gatherings, always the great food and sometimes a little too much beverage (brother Ron and I had a little too much fun on a couple of occasions!!). The memories will forever remain with us and our lives have been touched by the special spirit called “JO”. We will miss her dearly – the twinkle in the eye and the smile that could melt any heart. It is a time to feel sadness but we need to celebrate the life of JO – she lived it the right way. May she rest in peace. Larry
