It is with great sadness and love that we announce the passing of Upendra Perera, who passed away peacefully on October 6, 2025, in Mississauga, Ontario, at the age of 71.
Born on September 20, 1954, in Negombo, Sri Lanka, Upendra lived life entirely on his own terms with conviction, humour, and an unshakable sense of adventure. He was known for his mischievous smile, his love of a good party, and his ability to bring joy wherever he went.
Upendra is survived by his beloved wife Malkanthi, his daughters Girisha (Dennis Mak) and Ayendri (Julian Riddell), and his stepson Kusal Gomes. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Surekha, Ashika, and Major, who brought endless happiness to his life.
He is also survived by his sisters Ranjani (late Charles Dhanapala), Indrani (late Klaus Lesske), Praemani (Anura Wilson), Pushpa (Klaus Schuler), Jeevani (Peter Hofmeister), and his sister-in-law Manel (late Keerthi Perera). He will be lovingly remembered by his many nieces and nephews.
Those who knew Upendra will remember him as a vibrant soul, one who found happiness in good company, music, dancing, and in the laughter he shared with family and friends. He was also deeply generous always extending a helping hand. Upendra’s generosity and care touched many lives and reflected the true goodness of his heart.
He will be forever loved, forever missed, and forever remembered. May he rest in peace in the loving arms of our Lord.
The family will receive their friends at the Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen Street South (Hwy. 50), Bolton, Ontario (905-857-2213) on Tuesday, October 14th, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The Funeral Mass will take place at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 16066 The Gore Road, Caledon, Ontario on Wednesday, October 15th, at 12:00 p.m. Interment St. John’s Cemetery.
