I first met Ena many years ago when she was a volunteer with Caledon Meals on Wheels. Ena truly embraced any role she took on even when it came to digging out of snow drifts to get those meals delivered. I recall her ‘larger than life’ role at the annual Scrabble for the Stars events – what fun! Then to the last few years when it was an honour and a pleasure to provide those meal services to Ena herself. She never lost her wit, her dignity, her sense of humor or her compassion. Ena truly was a great lady and she touched so many lives – a wonderful journey of life to celebrate. My most sincere condolences to all her family.

Ena and I have been in and out of each other’s lives for about 13 years through our association with the Caledon Libraries. She was always a model of what a great volunteer should be- unselfish and always ready to help. Her sense of humour and her love of life was something that will always keep her very dear to me. We will miss her wonderful birthday parties where she proved that living in the now and enjoying each day is how one should live their lives. This is how I will remember her. Although this is a time for sorrow in her passing, I”m sure her family realize what a remarkable woman she was and how fortunate we all were in having her in our lives.

Condolence from Sheila (Turner) Praught on May 24th, 2013 11:03 pm

My deepest Condolances to the Mellor & Badger families.
I remember Ena as Mrs. Mellor from Wildfield. Such a wonderfully cheerfull home to visit her daughters, my dear childhood friends.
A memory that comes to mind, is being at Mrs. Mellor’s and her testing & passing me on my “baking badge” For Brownie’s. Such a huge accomplishment for a young girl. She made it so very special with the praise of compliments, she showered over me.
It is never easy to let a loved one go. It doesn’t matter wether they have lived a full life or were taken to soon, it still hurts ones heart & the loss felt deeply.
May you, her friends & family take comfort in the many wonderful memories you cherish of Ena Mellor/Badger.
Hugs: Sheila

Elaine, Lorna, and Winifred

I was so sad to hear the news from my Aunt Nora of your mom’s passing. Everybody loved Mrs. Mellor. I remember so fondly our days at the farm when the snow would be so bad up RR#3 that we would have to stay at your lovely house on the corner there until the roads were passable. Those were just the best times. I always thought your mom was the most perfect mom any child could ever have, and I know you are going to miss her. My thoughts are with you.
