Surrounded by love, Emidio Giachini passed away peacefully at Cortellucci Hospital in Vaughan on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 in his 89th year.

Emidio was born in Capo il Colle, Ascoli Piceno, Italy on May 14th, 1938, son of the late Pietro and the late Maria (Tosti) Giachini.  

He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Vincenza Giachini (nee Viresi). 

He was predeceased by his brothers, Anthony (Luciana De Angelis), Ricardo (Maria Pignoloni), and Natale (Giuseppina Iozzi) and is survived by his sister Vincenza Giachini (Luciano Alfonsi). He was also predeceased by his adored niece, Vittoria Viresi.  

Emidio was the cherished Father of Mario Giachini (Mara Rossi) of Bolton, Rita Giachini of Burlington and Carmine Giachini (Franca Aricci) of Richmond Hill and the dearly loved grandfather of Ricar Giachini, Alexia Giachini (Juan Guillermo Robayo Castro), Mattea Giachini, and Stefano Giachini and great grandfather of Natalia Robayo.  

He will be fondly remembered by brother-in-law and sister-in-law Paolo and Maria Viresi and special family friend Nancy Douglas, as well as by several nieces and nephews in Italy.  

Emidio immigrated to Canada in 1962 with his wife and first child Mario. His daughter Rita was born 3 months later. He was blessed with a second son Carmine a few years thereafter. He spent most of his working life at Dominion Bridge, where he was responsible for forming metal in the steel and iron shop. He would proudly tell everyone that his signature was etched in the steel at Canada’s Wonderland, The SkyDome and Burlington Bridge.  

Emidio loved life. He was an excellent Bocce player and was known as “il Re”, the Bocce King, and was even recognized by the Confederation Bouliste Internationale in 1994 when he travelled to compete internationally. He also played a great game of Briscola and won so many card games and bocce tournaments that it became difficult to find anyone willing to play against him. Nonetheless, he made many life-long friends at the Club.  He also enjoyed the great outdoors and getting up early in the morning to go hunting and fishing. But by far his greatest love of all was for his family.  His children were his pride and joy. After a long work day, he would spend hours playing with them or taking them to the park. And after his own children were grown, he felt blessed to do it all over again with his four much loved grandchildren…trips to the park, the Dollar Store and Dairy Queen were regular activities. Having all generations of his family gathered around the kitchen table were his happiest moments. There was always music, dancing, laughter and so much delicious food prepared by his beautiful wife Vincenca, and then came that twinkle in his eye when he asked if it was time for him to make the espresso. He never stopped loving, celebrating and encouraging his family.

Emidio’s memory will be cherished by all who knew him and forever in the hearts of his family.

Family will receive friends at a Celebration of Life at the Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen Street S. (Hwy. 50), Bolton on Thursday, September 24th, 2026 from 1pm to 3pm.  Words of remembrance will be shared at 1:30 pm., followed by lunch.  

Cremation has already taken place.
