To the Brown family;

It is with sadness that we learned of Elsie’s passing. I have so many fond memories of our teaching days back at Herb Campbell School. We had such fun with the Musicals and the trips to Ottawa. Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

So sorry to hear of Elsie’s passing. You two made a great team! With our Lodge connection and Mildred’s teaching and bridge connection with Elsie, our 2 family paths intersected on a fairly frequent basis. She will be missed by many more than the family. I will always remember being warmly welcomed to Herb Campbell P.S. when I went there as a new teacher in 1968. Elsie was always so kind and helpful to me during my years there. Thinking of your family at this time.

Many of us were so blessed to have such a dynamic teacher teach us. Her love of Math and grammar, and also her encouragement to make wise choices in our daily lives will be remembered. She did so well to organize and motivate many Grade 7 and 8 students. With deepest sympathy.

I was also blessed to have been taught by Mrs. Brown at Herb Campbell P.S. She often weaved life lessons into Math. I’ll forever hold dear the influence she had in my life. Her special subtraction technique and style of making change lives on in this student.

My kids just loved Elsie. She was so warm and kind. A good role model for the children. My deepest condolences.

I remember Mrs. Brown with fond memories of public school as my teacher…her laughing over my book report while reading it to the class. I’m glad it made her laugh. Leyland was my classmate. Seems like yesterday. My condolences to the family.

I have clear and fond memories of Mrs. Brown from my school days. I still know more about Australia than I should thanks to her. God be with her and her family at this time of sadness, but let all know that she was respected and loved.

So sorry to hear about your wife/mom/grandmother and my wonderful grade 7 teacher, Mrs. Brown! There are certain teachers that leave lasting impressions on their students and Mrs. Brown was one of them. She will truly be missed. Teachers never really leave us though, they just go on to teach the angels!!

The Brown Family –
Just having returned from a week’s vacation, it was sad to hear of Mrs. Brown’s passing. I was happy to chat with her at the HC 50th anniversary last Fall.
I often think of a few life lessons that were driven home nearly 40 years ago.
– a job worth doing is worth doing well
– even in a democracy, the minority shall rule
– stay away from the cardboard hamburgers of a certain fast food outlet (but she always said the fries were OK).

Thanks to Mrs. Brown for teaching me how to spell (the Spelling and Geography games are Iife-long memories).

And thanks to Mrs Brown for tearing up my Grade 12 plan and forcing me to take the Grade 13 route that led to an Engineering degree.

A life well lived and wise knowledge transferred.
