Condolences for the family of “Elizabeth “Bessie” Lockwood”

Condolence from Donna Quigley on September 2nd, 2014 6:06 pm

Elizabeth ( always ‘Doe’ to me) was a special and influential person in my life. At Camp Mini-Yo-We, while she was section head at the Northwood’s section, I worked as a program director. Her level head and faith in God kept young counsellors like myself on track. She was very generous with her time and resources to assist the work there.
In her later years, she was a friend and help to Graeme’s aging Mother.
‘Doe’ lived out her faith – a fine example to all of us. It was a privilege to have know her.

Condolence from George & Eileen Telfer on September 2nd, 2014 9:09 pm

We are saddened to hear of the passing of our long time family friend, Elizabeth. She was a special close friend of my sister, Dorothea, and so together we extend our sympathies. Elizabeth was a loving and caring person, and her faith in Christ showed in her Godly consistent life. The Telfer family.

Condolence from Hugh and Marnie Rodger on September 3rd, 2014 8:35 am

Prior to her going into Humber River Hospital for a hip operation she met me for a ride to Hiltop Bible Chapel on Sunday morning.

I was blown away by her matching outfit with all accessories colour
coordinated, keeping in mind she was 95.

She has gone to her well earned rest and inheritance in Christ for her faithful service in the kingdom of God.
A wonderful director at Camp MINI-YO-WE.

Condolence from Laurie Robinson on September 3rd, 2014 9:14 am

I remember Miss Lockwood as a faithful servant and a wonderful example of a Woman of Christ. Miss Lockwood not only taught Sunday School at Murinelle Bible Chapel but made sure she connected with you/your family outside of Church. I remember her explaining and helping us memorize “verily verily I say unto you except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God” John 3:3…(along with the rest of the passage).

Condolence from Karen Rowland on September 3rd, 2014 4:11 pm

Memories of Elizabeth to which I knew her as Doe from Camp Mini Yo We. Even though it has been many years since I’ve seen her, I’ll always remember her gentle voice and sweet smile as she talked about our Lord. I recall going to her cottage a few times and sitting by the lake laughing at the antics we all did as campers and councellors at camp. If I recall correctly her cottage had no electricity at the time, so time spent was precious. Thank you Doe for the memories…Dipper

Condolence from Maureen (Moe) Woods on September 3rd, 2014 6:39 pm

Elizabeth (Doe) was a wonderful friend and mentor to me as a leader at Mini-Yo-We and our friendship continued for many years, including a wonderful trip to Europe & Great Britain way back in 1960. She loved my boys and we all spent many wonderful times at her cottage in Georgian Bay. I have many happy memories of visits over coffee or lunch, but am happy to know she is with the Lord she loved and served.

Condolence from Carol Doughty “Teddi” on September 3rd, 2014 9:17 pm

“Doe” was a fantastic Christian leader to me and other young women at Camp Mini-Yo-We. When I was a camper and later when I was a counsellor at Northwoods, she was the Section Head and did a great job of leading us and teaching us Bible Study. Her leadership skills, biblical knowledge, and her camping and canoeing skills were appreciated by all of ” the girls from Northwoods that you’ve heard so much about.” I thank God that He put “Doe” and many other Christian women into my life during my teen and adult years. “Teddi”
