Dorothy passed away peacefully at Etobicoke General Hospital, on Sunday, October 4, 2009. Beloved by her family, wife to Ken, mother to Lynne and Darrell, grandmother to Laura, Rachel and Adam, daughter to the late Stewart and Iva Morrison, sister to Myrna, Donna, Shirley and John (deceased) and their families. Dorothy will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all of her extended family of friends and acquaintances. Her quiet inner strength resonated through every part of her life, touching all who knew her. Always proud of her family, Dorothy had the heart of a lioness, giving her love without questions or limits. To know her was to love her. Dorothy formed many strong bonds with friends while working for the Etobicoke General Women’s Hospital Auxiliary for over 48 years, beginning with the pre-building fundraising efforts. Dorothy enjoyed a strong connection with nature and living things and a walk through the fields or along the lake up north always gave her a feeling of peace and happiness. Dorothy moved through this life with a very special quality of warmth and dignity, always thinking the best of anyone and unfailingly generous with her good will and smile. Her easy sense of grace and serenity was like a cool breeze on a summer’s evening and through all of us who loved her, Dorothy’s spirit will live on. The family will receive their friends at the Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen Street S. (Hwy. 50), Bolton (905-857-2213) for a memorial visitation Thursday afternoon 2 – 4 and evening 7-9 o’clock. A memorial service will be held in the chapel on Friday, October 9 at one o’clock. I remember Dorothy as a kind, serene woman, enjoying the abundant bird life in the ravine behind her home and at her cottage on the lake. I was sad to discover this while googling old acquaintances. Sincere condolences to the Spinks family.
