Green Ann Web

In her 84th year, Dorothy Ann Green (nee Chambers) passed away on February 22, 2018, peacefully in her sleep at her apartment in Alliston. Ann was the loving wife of John (deceased), mother of Stephen (deceased) (Denise), David (Susan), and Richard (Angela), grandmother of Corrine (Matt), Elizabeth (Sam), Christopher, Russell and Jennifer, and great grandmother of Liam, Audrey, and Ellie. Fondly remembered by her relatives in Wales and England. Ann was the only child of Olive and Tom Chambers and was born in Wales on October 14, 1934.

After training in Cardiff to be a baker and confectioner, she moved to Calne, Wiltshire to work in a local tea room. Shortly after moving to Calne, she met shy young man, John who she married in 1960. Three boys followed. In 1972 the family emigrated to Bolton, Ontario for a “three year” posting. Bolton was their home for the next 45 years. Ann stayed true to her Welsh roots with family, faith, music and community at the heart of who she was and what she did. Ann set aside her career to work at home creating a safe and loving haven for 3 young boys.

She was a faithful member of the Bolton United Church, an active leader in the United Church Women, and a member of the choir. In the community, Ann volunteered with the Cancer Society, Meals on Wheels, the Albion Bolton Agricultural Society and supported seniors at Vera Davis and King Nursing homes.

The family will receive their friends at the Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen Street South (Hwy. 50), Bolton (905-857-2213) Thursday, March 1 from one o’clock until time of memorial service in the chapel at 2 o’clock.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bolton United Church, 8 Nancy Street, Bolton L7E 1C7 or the Caledon Meals on Wheels, c/o The Davis Centre, 80 Allan Drive, Bolton L7E 1P7.

What a lovely way to go – in your sleep, we all should be so lucky. After moving to Alliston, Ann came to St. John’s United and our Grace Unit. She always was so much fun. What I remember most about Ann was her time in Toronto Conference UCW on the Music Team. They always put on such good skits, e.g. the chicken dance, etc. What a lovely lady – she will be remembered with fondness and love. Condolences to Dave & Susan

Condolence from Joyce MacKinnon on February 25th, 2018 9:47 pm

Please accept my deepest condolences. Your mom was the greatest inspiration to me….support on. My UCW journey….an example to keep smiling ….an early UCW memory was the first UCW Toronto Conference Annual meeting I ever attended…over at Cedar Glen. She was the music leader for that meeting, she and Dorothy. The new Voices United had just been released and she taught us, “In the Bulb There Is a Flower”. I still think of her every time I sing it, she will be missed…..she had the greatest hugs!
Peace and prayers for this new chapter in your lives.

Ann was a very dear, sweet lady who, along with John, were great supporters of Caledon Meals on Wheels for many years. Ann was such a dedicated volunteer for so many causes in the community. She lived the motto of ‘do a good deed every day’ to its fullest. Comforting to think of Ann and John being in each others arms again. I pray the warm memories of Ann bring peace and comfort to all her family. She was a great lady.

The town of Bolton has now lost the second of a pair that truly made this town, and the world, a better place.
They have gone to attain a well deserved rest above. Thank God we were able to share time with them.

Condolence from Toby Witte on March 1st, 2018 10:26 pm

Dear Richard and David,
It is with great sadness that I am writing this condolence to you and your families. I work at Kingsmere and only knew Ann for a short time but in that time I seen and learned how she was a ray of sunshine every time she entered the dining room, the lobby and in the halls. She had a very special love for everyone that you could just feel every time that she was near you. I will dearly miss her smiling face and that smile that she had for all. I am truly sorry for your loss but she is now that special radiant angel.

Sincerely
Toby Witte

To Dave, Richard and family,
Please accept our deepest condolences for the loss of your mother. Anne is now reunited with her dear John and her son. I remember how they enjoyed camping in their trailer. Anne always had such a huge smile for everyone. Our houses were close to each other on Birchview and I missed them when they moved. Rest In Peace lovely friends and neighbors.
