We were all so terribly shocked and deeply saddened to hear the news through the Barber Community. Mr. O was the BEST TEACHER EVER and we are so thankful, honored and blessed to have had him in our lives. Thank you for sharing him with us for so many years. He will be greatly missed.
We send our thoughts and prayers to you and your family during this sad and difficult time.
To Mr. O, thanks for all the wonderful memories. You will be forever in our hearts.

I am very sorry to hear about the loss of Mr. O. He taught me years ago (1994); he was a great, fun, and innovative teacher. I am glad I had the chance to meet him and have him as my teacher. I am certain that he had the same impact on all his students.

Dear Ogino Family,

I am saddened to hear of your loss. Mr. O had a profound and lasting affect on my life after having him for grade 5 some 24 years ago. He always knew how to challenge his students and make them think for themselves. His lessons frequently held my attention by the way he could always make any topic seem interesting. He asked good questions and provoked creative thought. My love for Math and Basketball can undoubtedly be attributed to him.

I can still recall some of the things he taught me and the way he made be feel about learning. I have had countless teachers, leaders and mentors over the years, yet to this day he remains one of the most cherished.

Mr. O I only wish I could have thanked you one last time. I may not be perfect, but I know I have you to thank for some of the best parts of me. Your legacy inspires me to have as significant an impact on my children, family and peers. Thanks for doing what you did so well.

I am so sorry for your loss. Know that Mr.O was a wonderful teacher. He made learning so much fun. I had the pleasure of having him as my teacher for grades 3 + 4 back in Alton. I will always remember his smiles, definitely one of the best teachers. He will truly be missed.

I was in Mr. Ogino’s class twice in elementary school at Briarwood Public School in Mississauga. I had him for Grade 4 (1974) and Grade 6 (1976) and still remember him now going on almost 40 years ago. He was a nice man, and seemed to really enjoy us and our craziness. He had a good sense of humor but would also discipline us when necessary. That he has stuck in my memory banks where so many others faded away says something about the abilities to connect with those of us that were lucky enough to pass through his classes.

So sad to learn of Mr. O’s passing. He was, by far, the most inspirational and motivating teacher I have ever had. I am grateful for the way he challenged me to reach for a higher scholastic goal. He seemed to put so much effort into caring for our educational success and for us as individuals.

I remember how he showed me that I had abilities I didn’t believe I had. To this day I attribute my interest in math to the way Mr. Ogino taught, and I now work in the financial industry.

I remembered the other day about the great teachers, and lesson I have learned. The first name that popped into my mind was Mr. Ogino.

Sadly, I soon learned he has passed. He was a wonderful teacher, and gentleman. In my mind he still drives his Camero in heaven. Valleys, 84-85

I am 30 years old and was just talking to my boyfriend about my most memorable teachers and Mr. O is the most standout one of them all. He was absolutely the most amazing teacher and left an imprint on the students he taught that is so memorable and inspiring. I looked him up out of curiosity after talking about him and saw he had passed. I wish I knew at the time so I could have paid my respects. If the family ever reads this please know this man inspired so many children, he was my grade 4/5 teacher. He even came to my dance recital and supported me :). I will forever remember Mr. O.

He was also friends with my husband who pass d at 58, 14 hers ago
We used to play bridge together
David and I were always partners

We all have those teachers that leave such an impression on our lives and my first and best such teacher was Mr.Ogino, grade 5 at Briarwood in the 80s. I’ll never forget how fun and interesting he made learning. He related to kids so well and hence years later I decided to try to look him up. Sadly to find he has passed. Condolences to his family who I am sure are remembering and missing him years later, and to the little girl in me who is shedding tears for Mr.O and wishes I could have let him know hoe much he meant to me.

He was a phenomenal influence, and a warm, loving teacher. He made you love school, and coming to see him. In grade 5, at the graduation he asked us to make a long term goal. For me, it was what I’d do and what I’d drive. I told him then I’d be a cardiac surgeon and drive a Bugatti. In 2018 I became an ICU doc. I’m still working on the Bugatti.
We often reflect on him, to be honest 25 years later, and he still comes up so much. We miss talking to the pole! His love of teaching and emphasis on working hard is carried with us today. It’s sad to know of his passing but I think it’s nice knowing how many people he touched, who remember him with a warm heart and beautiful memories years later.
