Sad news indeed. David was the first person to welcome me to Mayfield United and I never saw him without a smile and a word of greeting for all. He will be very much missed.

Everywhere I go, I am asked how I am related to David Armstrong. Two weeks ago it was at a pig roast on a quiet little lake in Muskoka. I have always taken great pride in saying he is not only a relative, but a friend, mentor, and wonderful human being. The really lucky ones are the ones who called him Dad and Grandpa. Lots of love to all of you!

I have great memories of my Junior Farmer days and David was also so kind to my Mom and Dad (Russ & Irene Grafton) when they moved to Mayfield Rd. Dad so enjoyed his days working on your farm. David always said kidding, Dad was the senior advisor!!!

Seriously, our thoughts are with you. It is a very different feeling when you have lost both your Parents. You are now orphans. The hurt, I am sorry to say never does go away. I still miss Mom & Dad after all these years.

I had the pleasure of working with David in the last few years in the pulmonary rehab program at the Wellness Center. He was always a soft, but shining light and inspiration to his peers with his quite perseverence and dedication to helping himself. I have had the pleasure of working with David the last few years with SHARE and his insight and wealth of knowledge will be greatly missed at Board meetings. I was always impressed with his dedication and passion for helping others and greatly valued his opinions. He had a great way of sitting back and listening intently to all sides and then interjecting his thoughts when needed. Ron Armstrong told me of David’s death today and he was so very sad. David has been so faithful in visiting Ron in the Avalon regularly and he often took one of Ron’s good friends with him. Please accept our sympathy. We met David and thought he was such a kind and friendly man.

I was so saddened to hear of the passing of David.

Every year for nearly 30 years I have been visiting his house to keep an eye on his doors that I woodgrained when he and Gwen first moved into.the house. (and the previous farmhouse)

What a special man he was. I always admired him. He was a true gentleman.

I will miss visiting him every year, as I have missed Gwen also.
