Dave was a great inspiration and tireless volunteer for Spinal Research. He will be missed dearly by his friends and staff and Board Members at the Canadian Spinal Research Organization.

Caledon has lost one of its finest, a man of huge integrity, a warm and kind friend to anyone making his acquaintance and quite clearly a much adored and beloved soul. Dave has been my friend and mentor for many years through his long tenure as Caledon Community Services’ Treasurer on our Board of Directors. His commitment to our organization was stellar; he gave generously of his time and attention to support an organization that is proud to have been able to support him. His presence around the Board table will be missed, both because he brought intelligence to important discussions and warmth to every relationship he had with our Board and staff. I will miss my lunch dates with Mr. Lostchuck. In his forever humble manner, he offered me wisdom and perspective on one challenge or another and always, always, always reminded me that no matter how difficult something was, tomorrow would be better.

On behalf of the entire team at CCS, I extend my deepest condolences to his remarkable partner Leslie and all of his children, grandchildren and adoring circle of extended family and friends. The likes of DL don’t come along every day, his legacy is one of caring and compassion to all.

Please accept my sincere condolences at this sudden and heartbreaking loss. As a staff member at Caledon Community Services I had the pleasure of meeting Dave at various functions in his role as the Treasurer of our Board of Directors. He made a great contribution to the work of our agency and in supporting the Caledon community.

Dave was such a warm and gentle man with such ease in the way he interacted with others. I feel truly lucky to have known him for the past 10 years through our work together at Caledon Community Services. Forever a champion in community building and always spreading kindness and positivity onto others. I greatly respected Dave for his commitment to our Board of Directors, for his desire to help through the sharing of his skills and knowledge and also notably his quick witty sense of humour. In the various times that I had a opportunities to speak with Dave or listen to him at our AGMs, the most striking things about him were his warmth, congeniality and sense of humour. What a profound loss this is for his family and for the community that he was so clearly committed to for so many years. He created a remarkable legacy and he will be sadly missed.

I sat on the CCS Board with Dave for 12 yrs. starting in 2003. His intellect as our member responsible for reviewing the state of the agency’s finances was always highly valued but it was his humble attitude and gentle soul which
defined his character that will be sorely missed. In all the years we spent together I never heard him speak ill of anyone or complain about his multiple health challenges. He was a role model for those who had the good fortune to know him. May he rest in peace…..
