As you well know, Darrell suffered from numerous physical illnesses over a very long period of time. From what we have heard and seen, he faced great suffering with courage and the determination to overcome each difficulty head on. He lived longer than many would have had the strength to endure. This last battle was too great for anyone to win. We salute his struggle and are most glad that he went to his rest knowing he was greatly loved.

We were saddened to hear Darrell lost his tough fight to beat the cancer, he had such a positive outlook on the illness & on life itself. We are so happy to have talked to him at Tyler & Katie’s engagement party, & he looked good, & had a positive attitude.We have great memories of all the years we knew Darrell, mostly at the arena watching our boys play hockey when they were kids, & watching them grow up together ever since to become the best of friends. Darrell was one of the best. I met him shortly after starting with TFS in 1981. He was a gentleman who always saw the good in people and carried a positive outlook on life even when he suffered his own set backs. He was never a guy that stopped and felt sorry for his own situation.
He will be sorely missed by all that knew him and call him a friend. I can only imagine the sadness of your family in losing such a wonderful guy from your lives. Stay positive, carry him in your hearts and remember the joy with which he lived his life.

He was one of those people with that spark. That characteristic that eludes so many people. Well, he had it in spades. People like Darrell stick with you long after you’ve met them.

My love and prayers to you all at your great loss. I had the joy of meeting with Darrell 8 years ago after he contacted me when my husband (his brother Raymond) died. They had been separated as children and Darrell was trying to re-connect. My 3 children were thrilled to find they had another uncle and more cousins. Darrell was so proud of his boys and he spoke so often of you Lynn. You were all truly loved. Such a brave man throughout his whole battle with cancer – he was always so positive and ready to face his challenge. In the end it defeated his body but not his spirit. He will stay with us all for a very long time. My prayers will continue to be with you.

I had the privilege of working and sharing a lot of fun times at the beginning of our careers on the TFD You will surely be missed by all.
