Condolence from Karen Scarlett on June 4th, 2010 2:12 pm

I spoke to Dan on Monday, and how I wish I had known it would be our last conversation. Dan cared so much about people. He had lots of wisdom to share, lots of stories, and a lot of laughter.

He told me more jokes that I can’t remember, had a “moving tip of the day” for me, told me to persevere, that I would come out the other side of a difficult time.

He taught me so much about print that I am forever indebted to him. He punched holes in my belt.

I will miss Dan very much. Already not talking to him during the day has been a strange void to feel. I feel so lucky to have known him.
I have a picture of him somewhere – a young man with big sideburns standing leaning on a cool car. I’ll endeavour to find it.

Miss you Dan. Stars have been brighter this week.
always,
Kiddo

Although I did not know him well, Dan always greeted me with a smile when walking into our offices in RPD at the United Church. He was a kind and thoughtful person – always interested in how I was doing, etc. and actually taking the time to hear my response.

His warm presence and kind smile will be missed.

I had the pleasure of working with Dan for the past 10 years at Regal Press.

Oh, how I’ll miss his afternoon phone calls with: “Hi JB, how are you doin’ today?”

He was a lovely man. I can still hear him singing show tunes & hymns from his office.

God speed dear friend.
June

Condolence from Helen Crysler on June 6th, 2010 4:36 pm

Dear Sue, Whitney & Henry

May it help in some way to know that others share the sorrow in your hearts. Dan is already greatly missed by those of us whose lives he touched.

He was very proud of every one of you and loved you very much. This was evident in the way he talked when we’d chat.

He was a super, caring guy and good friend. He had a wry sense of humour that could put a person into a fit of laughter in an instant. He was wise and his advise was alway good.

Another beautiful voice is now added to the choir of angels.
Sing loud, my friend, sing loud.

Helen
A former UCC colleague

Condolence from Barbara Fullerton on August 19th, 2010 10:07 pm

Sue and family,
I am so sorry to learn about Dan – and over two months after his passing. I missed the announcement while out of town.

He was a wonderful man and I have thought of him a number of times recently, not realizing this sad news. After I no longer worked on the bulletins, we had little direct work contact. Nevertheless, his warmth and kindness always made it a treat to run into him at the GCO.

I was so touched by a conversation with Dan when I preached at your church a year or two ago, that I have mentioned it many times since and will continue to do so – if I can do it without tears.

I am so sorry for your loss and will pray for comfort and peace in loving memories.
