Sagermann Christian Web

With great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Christian at the young age of 30, on Sunday, January 14, 2018, at St. Joseph’s Hospital as the result of a pulmonary embolism.  Beloved son of Elizabeth and Harald and cherished big brother of Martina.  Loving nephew of Deborah Peldszus (Vancouver), Diane Peldszus and George Comis, and bear-hugging cousin of Olivia and George Jr.  Christian was full of life, and in the prime of his life with a smile that could light up any room.  Intelligent, outgoing and fun, he was thoroughly enjoying his life in Toronto where he was developing his career, furthering his many interests (sports, reading, cooking) and spending time with many cherished friends.

The family will receive their friends at the Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen Street S. (Hwy. 50), Bolton (905-857-2213) on Sunday, January 21 from 2 to 5 o’clock.

A service to celebrate Christian’s life will be held in the chapel on Monday, January 22 at 2 o’clock.

Followed by cremation.

In lieu of flowers and because of Christian’s love of animals. donations may be made to the Toronto Humane Society, 11 River Street, Toronto M5A 4C2 or any animal related charities.

Condolences for the family may be offered at www.EganFuneralHome.com

Condolence from Alfredo (Freddie) Di Somma on January 18th, 2018 12:58 pm

I had the pleasure of growing up with Christian; playing on the same soccer team, working at the local grocery store for almost a decade, throughout University, and finally starting our careers together at RBC Royal Bank. His sense of humor was unmatched and made the hardest days at work seem the shortest. I will always remember the way he could make you laugh in light of the most fearful challenges. Christian had a comforting presence that made you feel good about yourself no matter the circumstance. Having him by your side was like having an entire army by your side, especially before a presentation or an important meeting. After being grilled by an unhappy client or an intense “coaching” session with senior management, you went see Christian because you knew he would make you feel better. I want to take this time to offer my condolences to Christian’s entire family. Thanking for bringing him into this world. He will always be remembered.

Condolence from Michelle Kotrly on January 18th, 2018 1:16 pm

Dear Harald & Elizabeth,

There will never be enough words to express your sorrow at this time of losing your precious young son, Christian. As a parent who in the past has lost a child, I can only say that we as parents wish we could have given up our lives somehow to allow our child to live, but sadly, we are not given that choice. May the brightness of his life sustain you as you grieve.

Your friend,
Michelle Kotrly

Condolence from Jason Grancaric on January 18th, 2018 6:50 pm

Dear Elizabeth, Harald and Martina,

I am so very sorry for your loss of Christian. He was one of my absolute best friends and somebody that I had great admiration and respect for. He had an amazing sense of humour and always brought out the best in everyone he was around. He was incredibly intelligent and knowledgable about many different topics. He was somebody that you could talk to about anything and always enjoy your conversations with him. He was somebody that was always there for you and the first person you wanted to go to for help or advice. His energy, enthusiasm and passion were contagious and is what drew people to him so naturally. His work ethic and ambition were unparalleled and were traits passed on from both parents. He was wise beyond his years and I wish I could have seen how much he could have accomplished and how far he would have gone if he only had more time. I am so grateful to have had him as such a close friend for so long and to have met you guys through him. I pray that he is in a better place and that you find peace during this very difficult time.

With all of my love and most sincere condolences,

Jason Grancaric

Condolence from Lee Hodgkinson on January 18th, 2018 8:02 pm

I only had the pleasure of knowing Christian for a couple years but he made a lasting impression as one of my favourite people. A true mate or “Rick”, as we and many joked. Someone who would always make me smile and who I knew was always happy to see me. We could talk and laugh for hours. He had that gift and many others saw and felt it too. He was very special to be liked by so many. I had hoped for many more Chrismukkah, cottage and birthday celebrations together but I know we spent the time well.

To his family, I would like to express sincere condolences. I wish I could attend the services but I will raise a glass in his honour and think of him with a smile. You raised a beautiful person and he will be missed.

Condolence from Nancy D’ Onofrio on January 18th, 2018 8:21 pm

Dear Harald, Elizabeth and Martina,

My sincerest condolences on the loss of your beloved son and brother. I only recently met Christian when we started working together this past September. I remember chatting with him on his very first day and of course he had me laughing in no time. I knew right away, from that moment, Christian I would not only be coworkers but great friends. He found humour in every situation and this is what I absolutely loved about him..his ability to put on a smile on your face even on the saddest days. You don’t come across souls like Christian everyday… his presence was addictive, you fed off of his energy and light. Although I had only known him for a short time he has left a huge mark in my life and will forever be in my memories and close to my heart. I am always looking at the office door hoping and praying you are going to walk through any minute. Christian I miss you so much but I know God needed you urgently for a higher purpose. Maybe to keep the angels laughing..

With love,

Nancy

Condolence from Robert Ricciardi on January 19th, 2018 12:43 pm

I cannot believe this news… Christian was always such a funny, go lucky guy . I remember playing magic the gathering and warhammer with him at gerrys hobby shop in town and then working with him at zehrs with freddie . To a few years ago when I saw him at legends and we caught up there . Life is so very short and to lose a guy like him who showed me a great time as a new comer to the magic the gathering game as a young kid as he’s two years older then myself he made the game easier for me . GOD will definitely have another great angel up there with him . Funny Christians favourite magic card was EXALTED ANGEL.

God bless my friend and my condolences to his family .

Harald and family,

My deepest condolences on the loss of your beloved son. While your must surely be inconsolable at this time, I hope that the weight of your grief is eventually lightened by the knowledge that your son was such a positive force in so many lives.

Condolence from Nancy, Craig and Tom Honey on January 28th, 2018 1:39 pm

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Sagerman,

What a terrible loss for you. Please accept our family’s deepest condolences. I coached Christian in soccer when he played with our son, Tom. We had a lot of fun and what I remember as a coach is Christian was one of those guys that I could always count on, always tried his best, didn’t need special handling and always smiling. One of those kids that make coming out to practice and games a positive experience for anyone associated with him. Reading the notes above, it sounds like he brought that great attitude into his career and social life. You must have been very proud of him.

Our last encounters with him would have been at the grocery store – he always made a point of coming over with that big grin and saying hello. It always made my day. We know that you will miss him terribly – hopefully, in time, as you remember him it will bring a smile as it does for me – he was a gifted young man that brought a positive spirit to everyone he touched.

With kind thoughts from the Honey family

Christian was a classmate of mine. I remember him as being a very intelligent person. He was always very candid and honest. I admired him for this quality.
