Condolence from Nicholas Brooksbank on October 25th, 2013 10:15 pm

Ray,
I’m so sorry to hear about Charlie.
He was so pleased to see all of us when we came down to Weston Gardens for that visit. I couldn’t believe how magnificent he looked!
I’ve got dozens of letters that he had sent me over the years, and I’ve kept them all. He was one of the “old guard” and I had a lot of respect for him. I’ll definitely miss him.
See you on Sunday,
Nicholas

Hello Ray,
I was so sorry to hear of your father’s passing. He was a great man. Whenever he had an opportunity to dance at Syme55+ Centre he made sure he got me up on the floor. He was a natural. He loved Blueberry Hill! Please know that we all send our love from Symes to you at this difficult time. Nancy Rychel

Condolence from Rodney Cooper on October 26th, 2013 6:18 pm

Dear Ray,

My thoughts are with you during this period. I know how close you both were. Your father was a wonderful and generous man. I will never forget how kind your father and mother were to me when I lost my own parents. I was asked to share many a Christmas with your family after that and I am so glad we had all those wonderful times together. Your father shared with us a lot of his history and a lot of our country’s history and I loved listening and talking to him. I promise you that I shall never forget him.

Ray,

I was very saddened to hear about Charlie, and I am truly very sorry for your loss. I wish I could come over from England for the service, but I know that the rest of my family will be there to support you through this time. I will miss him, especially when we would have him over for dinner and make him his apple pie.

Dear Ray,
It has been some time since I have seen both you and your Father, but I do cherish the times in Lodge upon my joining and your father being there to offer me guidance and help whenever asked and what made it so pleasant was his smile to set you at ease. He will be missed. To you and your family I offer my deepest condolences.

Condolence from Keith Pearman on October 27th, 2013 3:13 pm

Charlie was my oldest friend both in age and the term of our friendship. In 1953 he became my first boss in an era when personal relationships stood for something. So many stories, especially when he drove me home from the old West Toronto station at the height of Hurricane Hazel. He bailed me out of trouble a year later at the Bolton Game Warden’s office. What does a 16 year old know about discharging a rifle on a public highway? My Parents were also friends of Charlie and Audrey.
Dammit Charlie you should have made it to 100.If anyone was deserving of a telegram from the Queen you were.

How very sorry I am to receive the news of your Dad’s passing. Reading the lovely messgaes left here, by many who knew him well, I understand that the apple didn’t fall far from the tree in your case. He must have been very proud of you and very appreciative of the relationship you shared.
I hope your many happy memories will be a comfort as you adjust to this loss.
