November 4, 1941 – October 16, 2023

Charles (Charlie) Peters died peacefully at Matthews House Hospice in Alliston, after living with cancer for about three years.  He was predeceased by his parents Clarke and Reta Peters, an infant sister Marjorie Ellen Adeline Peters, and a niece Sheryl Lee Cheshire.  He will be greatly missed by his brothers Murray (Lee) and Lorne (Joyce), his nieces and nephews Steven Cheshire (Sheryl), Suzanne French (Ryan), Scott Peters (Tania), Michelle Rotchell (Trevor), and Clarke Peters (Alison) and his 15 grand nieces and nephews.  Charlie farmed with his brother Murray on the family farm near Nashville, Ontario.  After over 30 years of being tied down to the 24/7 riggers of dairy farming, he decided to test the waters of urban living.  Here he expanded his interests in skiing, model airplane and helicopter flying, and even tasted the thrill of wind sailing and soaring.  For many years, Charlie boarded at a house in Etobicoke where early in his stay, the co-owners of the house were blessed with twin girls.  These girls, Caterina and Angelina Vespio, brought Charlie a great deal of pleasure over the past twenty plus years.  He will be greatly missed by the two of them and their parents.

The family wishes to thank the very kind and caring staff and volunteers at Matthews House Hospice in Alliston for making Charlie’s final days as comfortable and pain free as possible.

The family will receive their friends at the Egan Funeral Home, 203 Queen Street S. (Hwy. 50), Bolton (905-857-2213) on Monday morning, October 23 from 10 o’clock until the time of funeral service in the chapel at 11 o’clock.  Following a reception at the funeral home, interment Glendale Memorial Gardens, Etobicoke.

Anyone who wishes to memorialize Charlie, please make a donation to Matthews House Hospice, (www.matthews.house) or the Canadian Cancer Society, (www.cancer.ca) or the charity of your choice.

Condolence from Jenny and Alan Ingram on October 19th, 2023 12:48 am

I was sad to hear of Charlie’s passing.
I agree that he was a private person and always rather shy and unassuming. He often reminded me of the phrase “Still waters run deep” . It is hard to say the three names Charlie Murray and Lorne as only two. Rest in peace Charlie. Clarke Reta Catherine Florence Vera Helen will welcome you home
