Condolence from Jenn on November 11th, 2010 2:27 am

I am so sorry about your loss. Brennan was a really great guy. In grade six he was in my class, I was bullied a lot and he was always nice to me even stood up for me on a few occasions. We used to try to out sing each other during O Canada. He was so talented both athletically, vocally and even instrumentally. If it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t have made it through cross country.

We were close but he was always a smiling face that you could trust to be there. And I am sure that never changed.

I know it won’t bring him back but I think he may have just saved me again. I battle with depression and now I can see the effect it has on people if I act out. I hope knowing that he has been an angel for me can offer some comfort to you.

All my love and condolences in this extremely rough time.
I know he spread more love than we know.

Condolence from Sharon Little on November 11th, 2010 2:36 am

To your entire family, I offer sincere condolences on the loss of your son on behalf of the many staff, and faculty at NMC who had the joy of knowing Brennan, being his counsellors over the 5 years he was a camper, working with him in Music Theatre and hanging out with him at camp.

I didn’t know Brennan much other than to see him at NMC. (I’m the staff coordinator there, and so I see all the kids, but don’t get the opportunity to know them all.) I know, though, that friendships formed at camp often last for years away from camp and I know there are many of my staff who are sad and shocked to hear of Brennan’s passing.

It is always so painful to mourn the loss of one of our children. Please know that we are with you at this tremendously difficult time.

Sharon Little
Staff Coordinator, NMC

Condolence from Jo-Anne O’Quinn-Kallio on November 12th, 2010 2:39 pm

I just learned of your terrible loss and my heart breaks for you. I received this passage in a card when we were dealing with a family death and I saved the quote as it brought me comfort. I hope it brings you a little comfort as well.

“We cannot say, and will not say that he is dead. He is just away.
With a cheery smile, and a wave of the hand, he has wandered into an unknown land and left us dreaming how very fair it must be since he lingers there. Think of his faring on, as dear in the love of there as the love of here. Think of him still as the same, we’ll say, he is not dead – he is just away.” – Adapted from the writings of James Whitcomb Riley

Best regards,

Jo-Anne O’Quinn-Kallio

Condolence from Dave Kay on November 16th, 2010 12:43 am

To the McCartney family,
It was with great shock and a deep sadness that I learned of Brennan’s tragic passing. I coached Brennan when he was on the grade 9 volleyball team at Mayfield, my last year of teaching before I retired in Peel. Brennan was simply a great kid, a super player and a joy to coach. I talked with Brennan just this past May in math class when I was supply teaching for Mr. Besworth one day. We had a nice chat and caught up with each other that day.
I am presently teaching in St. Maarten in the Caribbean and am unable to be there to offer my personal condolences. Please accept my deepest sympathies to the family and Hayden, whom I knew from Mayfield.
Brennan will greatly missed by everyone who knew this wonderful young man.
With sincerest sympathy,
Dave Kay
