In Memorial

Born April 19, 1929 in Brockville, Ontario, Barb passed peacefully on January 5, 2017 at Etobicoke General Hospital following a brief illness. Vibrant and “in charge” until the end, Barb was much loved and will be sorely missed by her three children, Nancy Rooney (Ed), Doug Shaw (Pin), and Andy Shaw (Jae), six grandchildren Jenna, David, Trista, Brandon, Cameron and Jerie, her brother Dr. Tom Code, and several nieces and nephews. Pre-deceased by her husband of 46 years, Robert (Bob) Shaw, her parents Dr. Douglas and Kitty Code, and her brother, Jim Code. Barb studied at the University of Toronto and worked as a dental assistant before marrying in 1955 and starting a family. She loved her many friends in Canada and Bradenton, Florida. She enjoyed a good party, golfing at Meadowbrook and in Florida, CFL football (she bet on the Ottawa Redblacks to win the Grey Cup), family gatherings, movies, playing bridge, and travel. Barb never left the house without her “face” on and you could set your watch based on “tot time” when she enjoyed a scotch and soda (or two). Respecting her wishes, there will not be a funeral or memorial service. We ask that people remember the special times they enjoyed with Barb and, if so inclined, a donation may be made to your favourite charity. Barb’s favourites were the Heart and Stroke Foundation and The Toronto Star Santa Claus Fund. Many thanks to the staff at Etobicoke General Hospital for their compassionate care.

Cremation has taken place.

Dear Nancy, Doug and Andrew,
I was so sorry to see this sad news of your mum passing. So many fond memories of living next door to you in Wishing Well. I just loved your mum and her beauty and I must say I had to smile when I saw the line “She never left home without her face on.”… I loved that!
She was just awesome!
