Alyda

Alyda Louise (Lou) Rea (nee Quinton) age 84 is now at peace with her soul mate and loving husband Ken. Ken and Lou married after a short 6 week courtship that turned into a long and joyful 62 year marriage. Lou loved life and lived it to the fullest. What Lou loved the most was her family. She is survived by her children Russ (Diana), Cindy, and Pam (Steve); her grandchildren Carly (Lenka), Jessica (Michael), Alex, Laurelle, Shannon, Tyler, and Katelynn (Jermaine); her great-grandchildren Georgia, Alemiyu, Brooklynn, and Felix; and her daughter-in-law Shelley.

Lou was predeceased by her father Baxter Quinton and her mother Leah (nee Russell); her brother Max, and sisters Lillian and Marguerite.

Lou was a long time resident of the Vera Davis Centre in Bolton where she received loving care for almost 14 years. Lou lived life to the fullest seizing every opportunity that came along. She was always up to mischief and her laughter was infectious. Her humour stayed with her right to the end. She gave love and was loved by so many in return. A generous and kind woman with a huge heart and a quick wit, Lou loved a party or just sitting around the kitchen table telling jokes, singing songs and stories (many she made up) with her family and friends. Lou will be missed but we are relieved that she no longer suffers pain.

Condolences for the family of “Alyda Louise “Lou” Rea (nee Quinton)”

Condolence from Maxine Quinton on April 10th, 2015 9:21 pm

Aunt Lou was an amazing woman. She was smart and extremely funny and a maker of great fun. What I mostly remember her for is her heart. If you were in need, Lou was there for you. She and Ken took in so many of us kids over the years that as adults I’m sure we all look back in wonder. They took me into their family at a time I needed rescuing and that’s what I got…love and laughter and a home. Russ and Cindy and Pam, thank you for sharing your Mom and Dad with all of us. I’ll always love you Lou.

Condolence from Arlene & Paul Di Iulio on April 23rd, 2015 4:02 pm

Our deepest sympathies to Pam, Cindy & Russ and all the Rea family. We remember Lou as a fun loving, welcoming soul and enjoyed the wonderful parties at Ken & Lou’s home. May their kindred spirits thrive in all of you.
