Passed away at Brampton Civic Hospital, on Saturday, October 6, 2012, Bert Post, of Caledon, in his 79th year, beloved husband of Beryl. Loving father of Douglas Post and Andrew Post (wife Christine). Cherished grandfather of Danielle, Deryk, Frances, Hannah and Sophia, all from Caledon and area. Also survived by step-daughters Michele Griesser and her daughters Ashley and Isabella of Oxford, Michigan and Tiffany Bateman of Toronto. Survived by his brothers and sisters Robert, James (June) of Brampton, John (Sarah) of Bracebridge, Eleanor (Ivan) Cowan, Evelyn (Victor) Stoddart of Brampton and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his first wife Frances Speers Post (1997), daughter-in-law Debbie Taylor Post (2003), brothers Edgar (Norma), Philip, and William (Agnes). Bert was the youngest of the family of Charles and Amy Clark Post of Brampton. He was the founder and chairman of Woodhall Park Care facilities in Brampton. He enjoyed a lifetime association and employment in the health care service. For many years he was the C.E.O. of Peel Memorial Hospital. He was past president of the Ontario Hospital Association, Region 5; past president of the Ontario Residential Care Association; past president of the Rotary Club of Brampton where he was awarded 2 Paul Harris Fellowships for exemplary service in Rotary; past Rector’s Warden of Christ Church (Anglican), Brampton; a long-time member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 302 in Gravenhurst. Bert was an avid downhill skier, having skied many of the major resorts in North America and Europe, as well as being an accomplished carpenter, boat builder and mariner.
The family will receive their friends at the Egan Funeral Home Baxter & Giles Chapel, 273 Broadway, Orangeville (519-941-2630) on Wednesday afternoon 2 – 4 and evening 7 – 9 o’clock. Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Thursday, October 11 at 2 o’clock. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery. We have known Bert since we came to Brampton in l950. We will miss him very much as will all his friends in Brampton. He was a truly nice person.
Served with Bert on many a MAC meeting at PMH in the Seventies.
He had great rapport with Medical staff–he will be missed.
Bert was a great friend of ours and we will certainly miss him.
We met Bert at the Legion in Gravenhurst with his lovely wife Beryl. Although we have only known him a few years he was a very intelligent and gentle man. He will be missed by many. Our condolences to the whole family.
I will always be appreciative of Bert’s willingness to take a chance on hiring a then young guy with lot’s to learn as a member of his leadership team. Through the ups and downs of life and career Bert offered both support and friendship. One of the good guys, he will be missed.
As past Secretary and past President of the Rotary Club of Brampton, please accept my sincere condolence for the loss of a dynamic person. Bert contributed greatly to the Rotary Club and he will be sadly missed for his ‘service above self’ approach to helping others in our community, world and for those less fortunate. May knowing you’re in the hearts and thoughts of others help you and yours through this time of sorrow.

So very sorry to hear this sad news. My sincerest condolences to all of you. He will be missed as both a business colleague and a friend. So many childhood memories. Bert’s laugh and zest for life come back to me now. He was one of so many mentors as we grew up in the Snelgrove community. A highly respected neighbour and dear friend to so many. Bert will be dearly missed here but I know many are waiting with open arms somewhere else. My heart goes out to Bert’s loved ones. He will be missed.
Bert was a great member of Heritage Caledon. His knowledge and advice on local heritage issues was sage and always well received. He will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with Bert’s family at this time.

We thought Bert was a great person, with his wonderful smile and his always present humour. We will miss his visits to the boathouse in Muskoka. Helene and I are deeply saddened to learn of Bert’s passing. We first met Bert & Fran at an ORCA Conference in the early 1990’s. As new owner/operators of a retirement home we were truly blessed by their friendship and advice. Our sympathies to the family.

Having worked with Bert many years ago at Peel Memorial and other facets of his many “givings to Brampton” both old and new, I know what a great guy he was. He always gave me much encouragement as well. My condolences go to all the family members…all of whom have contributed much to the life of Brampton and Peel. Gone but not forgotten…
