Peacefully at Headwaters Heath Care Centre, Orangeville on Tuesday, March 11th, 2025, with her 3 daughters by her side.  Helen Mildred Hawkrigg (Black), in her 84th year, beloved wife of the late William S. Hawkrigg (2011).  Loving Mother of Cherie Lansing (Ernie), Stacey Bulloch (Matthew England), and Patti Ledson (Matthew Presley).  Cherished Gramma of Jon, Megan, and Taylor; Chris, Mitchell, and Nicole; Jenna and Nicholas.  Devoted GG-Ma of Ryan, Avery, Declyn, Emmett, Layla, Wake, Charlotte, Hardy, Hunter.  Dear sister of David Black (Pickering).

Mom had fond memories of her once little Caledon East community where she and Dad raised us girls.  She was active as a Lioness and with The Fire-ettes and the Caledon East Minor Softball leagues.   She loved her euchres and bingos and was always up for a trip to the casino. She was an avid Knitter and even towards the end, could be counted on for knitting baby clothes for anyone that was asking.  She was the number one fan of all her grandchildren’s sporting events and loved the Leaf’s and the Blue Jays. Because of this, we feel that “Jumpstart” would be a very appropriate charity for anyone wishing to donate in her name.

A celebration of life will take place this coming summer when all her family can be together.

“Mother”, someone who sees the best in her kids, even when they drive her crazy.  Master Multi-tasker, expert calmer-downer, lie detector, mediator, finder of all things.  The hardest job in the world.  One who does the work of twenty, for free.  We love you so much Mom. Thank you for the life you have given us.

Helen will be missed by so many, not just her family. We shared so many happy memories which involved both our families. We cheered on our kids at baseball games and our granddaughter, Jenna through her figure skating carnivals. We laughed as we saw Nicholas learn how to skate and marvelled at his skills on the ice later on,
Oh how sweet the memories. Rest Dear Helen, you’ve lived a good life and now your wonderful family will go on sharing such cherished memories. With love

Were. Are. And always will be.
