Born February 1, 1921 in Adjala Township, Simcoe County and passed away peacefully in Shelburne Residence Nursing Home, Shelburne on Tuesday, July 27, 2010. Layis was the beloved wife of the late Thomas James Hansen who predeceased her on January 3, 1979 in Toronto. Layis was the daughter of the late John Henry Kidd (1874-1966) of Adjala and the late Anne Jane Arlow (1883-1930). She was predeceased by her brothers Gault Henry Kidd (1988), George James Kidd (1990) and only sister Isabel Jean Banks (nee Kidd) (1988). Layis lived most of her adult life in Toronto. She will be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews and their families: Harry Kidd, Doug Kidd (Barb), Don Kidd (Janice), Joan Crawford, Gail Kidd, Richard Kidd, Marvin Kidd (Radujka), Audrey Rieter (Raymond), John Kidd (Vicki), Linda Banks, Steven Banks (Marilyn). Passed away suddenly on Friday, July 23, 2010 at the William Osler Health Centre in Brampton. Born in Lindsay, Ontario, Fred mostly lived in Toronto, traveled the world and settled in his beloved British Virgin Islands. He was a charismatic, colourful story teller who appreciated the finer things in life and always had a joke to tell. He was loved and respected by many. Fred was a son, a husband, a father, a brother, an uncle and cherished grandfather. Left behind are his adored wife Bonnie, his sons, Tom, Dave and Robert and their spouses Lori and Lisa, their children Jayson, Jacqui, Billy, Dylan and Sydney, and his little girls forever Gayle and Bianca. Never forgotten by his brother Paul and his wife Pam, his favorite sister Donna and his nieces and nephews, their spouses and children, his step brother Jim Ennis and his wife Charlene, and his dearest friends. He is predeceased by his parents Muriel (nee Daniels) and her husband Mel Ennis and Andrew Warrilow and his wife Vi. After many years of welcoming friends and family to her home and cottage, our hostess has handed in her apron and formally retired. Virginia “Ginny” Torode, beloved wife of Edward (Ted) for almost 65 years has passed away at Headwaters Health Care Centre, Orangeville, on Wednesday, July 21, 2010. She has left a pattern of unselfish love for her four daughters to follow: Donna and BobTaylor, Helen and Paul Evans, Jill and Joe Wancha and Jackie and Tim Morrison. Her eleven grandchildren can speak with authority on the values she has imparted to them. Her five baby great grandchildren will learn the stories in the years to come as they are passed on.
